name your text battle idol. and be real bout it it.
We've all had one, some of us still do and just won't admit it. Well I'm gonna tell y'all who mine is and why.
So even if you don't have one now cause you personaly think your own sshit don't stink (and if that's the case u can say so) ..but even so, at one point you had one.. who was it and why I got hush The nigga a witty genius Crushed me in the bad blood tourny pt 1 back when netcees 1.0 had its biggest collection of battling superstars at one time. So I watched him ever since. No homo you fagot lookers, and I hated on the dood for a while.. but then as I went from paragraph to settup/delivery style writing.. I was like yo, the kid is nasty for real. There's a shit ton of other dope writers. But that's my pick, and my why What's yours. Don't be a fagot and be scared to say it. |
Umm I always liked this dude who went by sept jr. On bboys ... actually taught me a lot when I first started writing real complex punches
@Hush my dude too.. at one time he said I was a genius with concept when on the real that dude just know how to take anything and word it into a quotable And I've always fucked with @Allen Knight style ... fucking reminds me of 90s pissy staircase gutter rap my homie @lefty ... do I really have to say why? He's just an amazing writer all around And of course the wigga who put me on @J. Metts ... when he's has motivation I don't think theirs a cat who can outwit outfunny or out write him... More then one but you know taste change from ttime to time but these dudes are timeless |
When i first started blue bayou was my hero. He still is pretty dope. His wordplay is the blueprint. After i beat him a few times he lost some of his herolike aura to me....but when i first got here i was like yo.....this dude is the truth.
|
STRONGARM was dope.
http://strongarmgankedu.webs.com/openmictextpieces.htm |
Mystery Murderer....dunno if anyone here remembers him, but I always thought he was the best.
I'm not into text like that tho, I dunno the history and the top dudes n shit so my opinion might not mean much but from what I have seen, he was probably my favourite. |
I've had dozens I like. I usually gravitate to a certain style. No one any of you would know by name. I like weirdos. Whys is dope. Coup. Cake. Black. Vulgar. Oats. Neighbor and Manhattan are good, but I don't like their style all the time. They've both seen too many episodes of Miami Vice/Scarface.
Don't think I've ever had a crush. Impolite on RF was really dope. |
Had to take it somewhere else with that crush shit, didn't you?
them cats are dope to though, everyone in here that's been mentioned is nice with it so far. But ya. I'm just bored as fuck rite now |
always thought Hush/ Orc had dope bars
Hush has ill concepts, Orc has dope wording open mic shit... I dunno. Flavor of the week always liked Black's storytelling method. I've always been a big fan of BWA's rhyming. vulgar with dat wordplay |
Orc's style is just absolutely fun to read.
Blue is the man when it comes to wordplay. An joe. Joe is dope. |
There was a dude called Engivale who I think was probably my favourite OM writer of all time.
Followed closely by Black and Baron Mynd back when he still did it properly. This site though probably has more depth in writing talent than any I've been on tbh There are countless dope writers who are still posting things here. Dudes like dull boy, pancake, wise, vulgar, oats, split, zygote, pent. Also honourable mention to Cry and Brandon Cee who for a long time were my main competition and to this day can write better than most of the people who do this. |
Dynasty was always one of my favorites to read. Battles and otherwise. Even had his archives bookmarked some years back for sheer dopeness.
|
Word at most of this thread, +1 to hush. but Swerve's wording consistently impressive to me cause theres always this tone that makes it seem mad condescending. that alone makes some of his shit work so well
just a lil thing ive noticed that stuck out at me |
and lo, on the seventh day richard corey rested - for he had completed the hip hop scrypture, and he saw that it was good.
|
Mudfoot.
Relentless Fist was the truth back when text was in it's prime. I looked up to dude when it came to writing verses. Advance/Andy was dope af too.. another idol. & Medichi... Med used to be a headache.. but no doubt one of my text idols & biggest rival as well. |
battle wise has to be hensley
imo he is still one of the best battlers to ever battle in text ...can come back right now and body dudes then no show 6 times and leave for a year lol |
Oneduh
|

|
Just cuz GoldMic did it for you
|
I remember that site, it was strange you could view the verses but couldn't view the votes unless you were a member and it had some difficult shit to sign up so I'd just read some battles and not know what the fuck was going on and leave baffled.
|
WORD. I also was not abke to navigate that site and left highly confused.
|
@Witty how dare you not pick me.
|
|
Thanks Geno
Mine was Alien But my og txt mentor was John Dough tbh Medichi and Advance was my niggas too Looked up to Orc alot Frank Metts was the first battler I tried emulating when I started texting again in like 07/08 |

Battling was a guy named Cornbread on a no-name site way back in like 05 or 06. Forgot the exact time I did this back in the day. We were all wack looking back on it, but he probably could've gone to the legit sites and done well. As far as netcees goes I like Bags style.
Open Mic it's a mix of dull/bwhaha, Black, Vulgar, and oats. Whys for schemes sometimes. When I first tried SnF I just straight up tried to ape Neighbor's style and didn't really try to hide it. |
KungFuGrip the nigga that made me into the ass kicker i am today.
|
Black
dullahaha Recluse |
