Ronaldo lit the World Cup up tonight.
Anybody watch?
Unbelievable. I am off work for the next 3 weeks, so I will see the vast majority of the tournament. |
Yes...CR7 is absolutely retarded....*waits for Messi rebuttal.
|
Fuck Messi & all of Barcelona.
Cr7 is the goat. Spain is looking only slightly better than last World Cup. Diego costa is carrying their team as Cristiano is carrying Portugal. Idk why Quaresma still plays smh Iran and Morocco players were all fasting so they all had no energy and were passing out. I’m glad Iran won that. I was asleep during Uruguay game |
Messi has the superior talent.
It's ridiculously dismissive to say fuck Messi. He is the most gifted football player of this generation, and probably of all time. Ronaldo is right up there tho. |
sometimes as an american i feel like im missing out not paying attention to this. but then i turn on a game and realize the clock is going backwards and people are running around like ants on a giant field and they shoot at the goal like once every 45 minutes and i just tune out
|
If either Messi or Ronaldo win the World Cup this year with their respective nations, they will go down as the greatest of all time.
|
And uh-oh clearly only watches terrible games.
|
David Silva was excellent too.
|
Messi can’t carry his team. He’s a Steph curry. Cr7 is a lebron James who carries his team. There’s not s definitive answer on who’s the better player, both have different qualities.
Argentina won’t get past the quarterfinals. France is my favorite to win, really hoping Colombia can pull something off though. David Silva did play excellent I agree. |
France would be my favourite too. Though they often look impressive right up until it matters then they fuck it up. So we'll see.
Brazil should be in the mix. And Germany always are. Belgium have the players, but are yet to show any sign of greatness as a team. Maybe this will be the tournament they finally realised their potential. To say Messi doesn't carry a team is crazy to me, Argentina would not be in this world cup if it wasn't for him. But yeah, he's not a leader like Ronaldo is. He is introverted on the pitch, he plays his game and ignores anything else going on. But his ability with a football at his feet is unparalleled...the only comparison is Maradona and I think Messi has even surpassed him. |
But as I said, if either of them win this world cup, the conversation of who is the GOAT is over.
Neither of them will tho... Argentina's squad is the worst I've seen since I've been watching football. Portugal have a better team than in previous world cups, but still not good enough. |

Belgium has the team they need to win it all but I guess they just don’t have chemistry? Spain has the team too but just lack chemistry and it shows. If not then idk what their excuse is for not dominating as they should. Maybe i was wrong for saying Messi doesn’t Carry the team, but he hasn’t had the chance to prove he can. Portugal only had cristiano tbh, Argentina has a good squad all around. They aren’t the team they were in 2014 or even copa America but they have the team. Germany and Brazil are definitely contenders as well. Colombia just reported a James injury so there goes that. May be a scare tactic though |
Portugal won’t pass round of 16, Argentina won’t pass quarters
|
I agree.
A Portugal v Argentina final would be amazing tho. |
Recently started getting into this, since the WC update on FIFA.
No one talkn bout Brazil's redemption tour or Germany? Personally I want to see Messi win before he's done |

I want Spain to do well because I have Spanish heritage and I'll be in Lanzarote for the next 2 weeks, or Portugal because I have them in the sweepstakes at work lol But yeah Brazil, Germany, or France are favourites, my money is on France personally. |

Messi was poor today, the whole team was really, apart from Mascherano and Pavon when he came on.
Iceland played how they always play. It's frustrating to watch (and play against) but it is effective. They had a plan, and executed it to perfection. |

The worst thing if England win would be reading and hearing about it for the next 50 years.
To say I read about 1966 in British sports media approximately once a month would probably not be an exaggeration, and if it is, definitely not much of one. |

Do I have to pull out my national soccer kits from when I was kid in the 80s and 90s to gain your acceptance (answer: no, I don't, because you are a condescending fuckwit) |

which, unfortunately, will likely be between world cups. 2022 is too early and 2026 is too late + the (stupid) field increase to 48 teams. |
@tryode
a: yo messi or ronaldo might be the best if they manage to capture a world cup medal b: no germany won the world cup back to back c: yea but individual players you moron - belonging to teams which no one heralds as the greatest b: fuck off you know-it-all i kicked a ball fifty years ago (i might be a condescending prick but the flow of the conversation clearly tells you're a moron) gg. |
Waiting to see Germany, Brazil and Belgium play.
Argentina and Portugal rely on one player so won't win it. France look tactically and mentally lost on the pitch. Spain dominated massively and were impressive, poor goalkeeping and GOAT Ronaldo the only reason they didn't smash Portugal. Germany I think are a poor team... well not poor poor but worse than before and I don't think will go far. Brazil it really depends on their defence, not sure how they have been going or who they even play their. Belgium, as always, are my pick and dark horse. Solid in all positions and Hazard/De Bruyne are the 3rd and 4th best players in the Comp. Top class players throughout the first eleven, slight concern about depth of the squad. England I just hope aren't boring, go down fighting at least this time. |

Then you jumped in here when nobody was speaking to you to try to feel superior because you have an endless inferiority complex and can't help yourself. So here we are. |
Also, I would love for Die Mannschaft to win back to back, but we're weeks away from that outcome. Or did you confuse WC 14 and Confed Cup 17 as the same thing?
Look at you being stupid. |
i stand corrected.
i wasn't trolling. i'm going to barely catch the highlights of this tournament. iran ftw. |
I mean Ronaldo won the Euro's with Portugal so it isn't beyond the realms of possibility, but yes, very unlikely.
|
France were baffling today. They are a team full of world class players, who have played together all through qualifying...and yet in the game vs Australia they looked like they had just met that day.
I did predict something like that might happen tho. Because it's France. |
Anyone still interested? Lol

kroos da god |
Absolutely world class from Kroos. To do that. At that time. With that pressure. Amazing.
Germany back in the game. |
