We paid 2.5k I think and ours was one of the more expensive. She did like 500 photos and has a black and white copy of each so 1k all really high res that are hosted on her site and we got a cool wood carved leaf shaped USB drive with them all on it. She worked about 13 hours that day and had a second camera person. Lots of planning ahead of time too, and we were easy clients lol.

I’m sure certain areas are closer to 5k though. Only one around here was like 6 and she has won awards and shit

I wouldn’t want to do it personally. Maybe 2 a weekend and all week you’re editing and shit. Around here especially there isn’t really a lot of work for them in the winter months because of the snow.

It’s a good gig I guess but I’m sure it doesn’t add up to being overly worth the time and there are bridezillas that have most likely made people stop doing weddings haha

Would that be the dream though? Seems like it based on what I’ve see. You say your into. Something to work towards man. Save a little here and there, turn trips and vacations into little side projects to test out styles. Never doubt your dreams man. I quit a good paying retail job without thinking much about it to make video games and couldn’t be happier a year later. It’s tough to struggle financially and have that worry of it not working out, but imo it was tougher to pretend being content was being truly satisfied.

Did you have any college exp before ur classes or is it something that is open to hs grads? I work on diesel engines as a trade. while it pays well, esp lately as an inspector, it's not what I love.

Do you have coding experience and artistic talents? If not, I mean you CAN, of course.. but it'd be a hard road with a lot of collaboration (which comes with a lot of ego and issues).

I started building and working on PC's when I was 6 and did level editing for fun on a lot of games before my teens. Learned HTML, CSS, and Java early as well. (Only Java translates much to gaming). I came into college with the skills to haphazardly make a decent game, but the structure of coding/CS classes with python and java helped a lot with more formal learning and organization.

I was mainly an art major though, so I am lucky enough to be artistic(ish, depends I guess on who you ask) so I can do my own game art.

I'd deal with drunk bitches for 8 hours if I were walking away with 5k

MFG @Knucklehead im trying to write a long response on the tablet but every time i do I step away and it disappears lol but anyways I have a decent art background from HS and a couple things onward, got accepted into a thing or 2 but engines were more reliable money and quicker. There is a school here specifically for game design but UofL also has a program I can get into. I just don't wanna sign up for some shit and realize there are no jobs at the end of the tunnel halfway thru.

General consensus from what I’ve heard is not to go to school specifically for game design. You’d be better off going for computer science.

If you want to make games and be happy than working for a big company isn’t a great path imo. I’d just stick to what you’re doing if you like it and try to mess with game design as a hobby and see where it goes. Changing from engineering to game design is a big adjustment and not worth the negatives if you don’t like it. A lot of people think they will and then can’t get their heads around coding.

Realism is my favorite. This is exactly the advice required. It's more of just a specific project in my head, but the fact is that it will probably never be brought to fruition. It's a cool concept imo tho kinda like Bully except more open and RPG like. MMO high school or something lol esp w/ VR where it's at and will be going.

Btw, are there any games u have done work on that I can play now? I play console so I'm a pleb, my PC can barely run TWD Telltale

Nothing released yet. Will post it on here when something is. One should be done by this holiday season but I’m not sure if it’ll be on Xbox.
