I think he might be, feels like he's changing the game of course in his own way but like how Pac changed the game in his time. I didn't live through that but I can just imagine. I mean this dude got a Pulitzer for his album, crazy. Multiple Grammys...what's your thoughts?

I haven’t really even listened to the message behind his content that much because the production and beat selection never appealed to me. I’m sure his stuff is very pro black rights which is cool, but I don’t think most rappers really do anything useful for that movement with their platform.

California love is another I like a bit. I get that changes was a big deal but I just can’t vibe with the musical style regardless of lyrical content. Even so it wasn’t that deep of a song.

Still, this isnt a discussion. This is like comparring a smoothie with a can of coke. Both drinks serving totally different purposes.

Everyone saying it shouldn't be a comparison is wrong. They're rappers. Both are/were considered the best, or one of the best, rappers in mainstream rap during their era. Kendrick invites the comparison; TPAB has Tupac throughout the album, he references him in his music, and he most likely thinks that he has no competition in the current rap landscape and is competing against his predecessors now, namely Tupac. Both are "conscious" lyricists with an activist bent who's best songs are often prototypical gangster violence rap. People who say they shouldn't be compared just have trouble reconciling the nostalgia induced pedestal they've place Tupac on. It seems weird to compare one of the biggest names in a bygone era with a current artist, and it has a slight sacrilegious undertone since Tupac's death has put him in this weird deity-like strata in the rap world, but stylistically and culturally they should be compared.

Kendrick is better.

Every now and then, The Real Dancake comes out of the shadows and blesses the vile users with his knowledge.
