I'm building a house and it's very stressful.
Has anyone here done it before?
We're suddenly switching models / floor plans entirely now. I'm not even at the design-the-interior stage yet. My head is ready to explode. Let me know your experience if you've ever done it before. |

Recently remodeled my home. It is very stressful. Are you using a contractor or doing the work yourself?
|
whats the property looking like tho dawgggg
and what are the upsides of having a house built vs. just buying one? is it actually cheaper/you get some kind of break or something? |
inb4 Amen arrives claiming he built the Taj Mahal singlehandedly as always

https://www.jwhomes.com/Find-Your-Ho...w-Neighborhood I wish I had more say in the matter. The model/elevation we want is the model home but we've been beaten to the punch on it anywhere we can build it *and* its next closest alternative. We'd lose the full double porches for only half-ones and lose the 6 french doors onto them for regular windows and one door per porch (the upstairs one would go through a bedroom to get there too). We love the inside floorplan the most but are now 99% committed to switching to a model whose interior isn't as favorable but has the full width double porches and french doors. also it has an elevator shaft which will be good for our respective parents since the houses are raised 14ft and that's a lot of stairs for old folks. It really sucks spending a shitload of money and not being able to build exactly what you want but I was late to the game on committing and this is the only lot with a marsh view left so we're stuck with its restrictions (mind you I am not *on* the marsh like the back line of houses - those are all 1.3-1.5 million homes. ya boy ain't that well off). |

i have to consistently remind myself that most people aren't like me. lol. if i was in a position to build/buy/whatever my forever home it would be at least a jog from my nearest neighbor. i would want more space around the home basically. but the location and shit seems pretty solid and im sure the neighbors are good neighbors to have i would just hate for my white trashness to bubble up and bother them on some godforsaken night. you seem to have yours well under wraps though. |

i would also like more space. my current house is almost a 3rd of an acre corner lot cul de sac. i'm giving up a lot of it but the location is ridiculous. there's no more new building going on that end of town and it's the most desirable location in the town. just have to accept it or flip it a few years down the road for profit like i'm going to do with the current house. |

Look up On YouTube Dave Ramsey how to build a house rant. Solid wisdom.
Psychologically it is one of the most stressful things a marriage can undertake. Good luck Chris. |

Moving closer to beach?
Selling current home or going to rent it out for a bit? |

I know out here in PA - it's much cheaper to build one. Plus it's BRAND NEW - never been owned/lived in before. Had mine built but tired of it already. Was thinking expand but need to go up as the land where I am is all marsh and rocky/shale. It sucks. The POCONOS have a lot of big ponds they call lakes. |

wanted to rent it out, got into big fight with wife over it, consulted financial advisor, selling it. will make about 100k net new $, 160k gross. |
That's dope man.
Congrats. Hope everything works out for the best. I'm looking to move to NC, finally convinced the wife to get the fuck out of the north east man. So over this bipolar weather... - just don't know where yet. Any suggestions? |
Bermuda Triangle, gaza strip...Syria is nice this tie of year.

Architects are important.. very important.. meaning there are architects who are super design based (colors, finishes, aesthetics, that bullshit), then architects who like to overcomplicate everything to maximize price, and the one you want is the blue collar one who knows how optimize space. gotta interview them and check out their past work.
get 3-4 different space plans, and then let your wife pick.. thanks |
