Sleep paralyses. Anyone here suffer from this?
My Girl does a lot. Hasnt been recently but i think its because shes been getting better sleep. Sleep paralyses is when you wake up but your body hasnt come out of "atonia" yet so your voluntary muscle movements are in a parylyzed state. You open your eyes but cant move. A lot of times people hallucinate and see this dark figure and feel like there is pressure on there chest and its hard to breath its pretty scary shit. Ive seen my girl do it a bunch of times its crazy. But its the shit that people see during this that makes it even scarier. Like a shadow figure. Or alien being that feels evil and like it shouldnt be there.
Any of you ever experience this shit? They say everyone will at least once. Some people experience regularly like my firl does tho. Do ajy of you? What do you see while its happening |
Has she ever had a sleep study conducted?
Never experienced, but know a few people that suffer from this on the regular. |
Happened to me before awhile back for like a month straight. Shit was pretty intense, definitely felt like a demonic presence tbfr
|
u see...pray to the devil and the devil will make his presence felt in your life.
for shame! |
Lmao I ended up saying fuck it n jus continued sleeping like the shits normal
|
lmfso gone
cred said FUCK THAT paralyzed?!? pfft...not until I get done sleeping. |
lol
|
geno been slippin G in her drinks
|
Nah, thats what she tell him while he trying to lay pipe, so he don't feel discouraged or terrible.
"She paralyzed" ROFL |
My wife went through it as a kid.
She tells me stories of hearing foot steps and kids playing around her bed. How she felt like at one point the laughter stopped and she felt this pressure on her chest and tried screaming but nothing would come out. Shits wild |
I have sleep apnea, which is when you stop breathing while you sleep. I constantly wake up short of breath in a panic because your dreams immediately turn to nightmares. Had dreams someone was fucking with my kid. I constantly have dreams of my ex fucking around on me again. Sleep disorders aren't no joke. I have anxiety real bad when I'm awake and constantly have days almost entirely ruined as soon as I wake up. It's honestly the main reason I started listening to City and Colour because he's got a song called Sleeping Sickness where he talks about sleep apnea. Plus dude talks about depression and how he copes with it. Never had this happen, tho.

Nah. No tests
Ive watched her go througj it.tho. Ill see her eyes open and she looks terrified..making noise like she trying to speak but nothing comes out. And ill get concerned thinking she having a nigjtmare ot somethings wrong and im like are you ok.. Are you ok??? With no response until suddenly she comes out of it and is laughing at me and says she was paralysed. Its happened several times like that. But shess had it happen way more times than id like to think about that i didnt even know.or was asleep. Who knows what shes felt.or seen. Pretty scary |

I have before and it's fucked up. Quite a few occasions. Had to literally scream myself awake...it's almost like your body is asleep but ur concious of it but still can't move
|
This is a more scientific explanation of what it is and why certain people have it and others dont..
"When you enter deep REM sleep, your brain tells the body's voluntary muscles to relax and go into almost a state of paralysis, which is called atonia. Atonia actually helps protect the body from injury by preventing you from acting out the physical movements in your dreams. In other parasomnias, such as sleepwalking or REM sleep behavior disorder, atonia does not occur properly and the voluntary muscles move while the mind remains asleep, which is why people can sometimes do crazy things in their sleep and be totally unaware of it. In sleep paralysis, the body remains paralyzed in REM atonia while the brain awakens and the eyes start to open, explains Breus. Sufferers become alert in a transient conscious state, but they are unable to move voluntary muscles or speak. Although involuntary muscle movement, like breathing, is not affected, there is often a sensation of chest pressure, which is why many people wake up from sleep paralysis gasping to take a deep breath. Episodes can last anywhere from 20 seconds to a few minutes." |
Theres a great documentary about sleep paralyses on netflix called. "The nightmare" it goes further into the shit people see and talks about why so many people see what seems to characteristically be the same presence or entity. Its pretty scary shit man i sugvest anyone interested watch the doc.. Its one of my favorites on netflix ive viewed it a couple times especially cause my girl struggles with this issue..
|
I had it a lot when I was 16 to 19 and since it happens now and then
I take the cred approach and just go back to sleep |
I've had a few episodes of it. It's fuckin' terrifying.
|
Yea the shit Gen posted is right but that don't make the shit less terrifying. I felt like my fucking soul was being sucked out of me, but I noticed it happen more when I was on my pain pills which I can see it playing a role. Haven't had it in a while tho and I seen the Netflix shit where the dude has like 30 TVs all set on static....weird af
|
Lol. I dont remember the tvs. But the documentary is rly dope. U should watch it u have this experience
|
Yep, know this feeling all too well.
I've experienced it maybe 3 times in my life, but it's surreal. Can't move a muscle, speak, or do anything. Your eyes can move around the room, but that's about it. After a minute or two (which feels like an eternity) your body starts to come to, and you get a hold of all of your functions again. Can't speak for everyone that has had it, but for me personally it always happens when I fall asleep on my back. I go to sleep on my side now and haven't had it, since. Never experienced a sleep paralysis-hallucination thing though, however do have sleep apnea , too. The only experience I've had with hallucinations around sleeping was when I was on my bed with my back towards my TV, I left it on. I was half asleep and the TV projects a light over my wall, but as I stared at the wall it started to turn black, even though I still see the TV's light on behind me. Went back to normal after blinking a few times. |
when I nod out on percs ive had it happen
I just figured I overdosed n embraced it.. not a bad way to go compared to alternatives |
I experience sleep paralysis way too often
Not fun at all. Legit fear itself |
I've experienced similar phenomena before, but not to that extent.
|
Yeah bro don't wanna fuck with that. Gateway to hell
|
I've experimented w/ induced lucid dreams/astral projections and it is not something I would recommend for the faint of heart. Started on a forum thread like this one and it had a brick of text explaining how to do it. Tried it, never experienced anything like it since or before
Sleep paralysis is a... common side effect |

Tell me more about your experiences with astral projections because I’ve had a few experiences of my own unless I was dreaming which I doubt but idk Tell !!! |
It is a dream, in essence. Although not the best description, it is almost a world that you can control. In a lucid dream, you are aware that you are in a dream and you can manipulate your decisions. A step further takes it to the point that you can interpret every detail around you and are actively aware of your existence within that. OBE's/projections are breaking the glass.
I've never pushed myself to that extent. I quit trying when I felt like I was... changing for the worst. I'm not the best at describing it but I can try to find that thread somewhere. Words of warning are laced throughout, as I remember. Lucid dreams are quite common and happen often throughout childhood particularly |
Fun fact: any face you see in a dream, you have seen irl, if only in passing. Human brain isn't capable of creating human faces or some shit
|
astral projection is when your spirit travels through the astral realm.. or spirit realm... science calls it remote viewing, and it was actually funded and utilized by the cia. rs.
wise man once told me this is where the real battle is taking place.. through astral projection thoughts can be placed into our subconscious mind.. so what seems like impulsive and sudden urges to do something actually are well placed thoughts manifesting themselves. yes, just like inception. except symbols are an integral part because there has to be something to link the subconscious memory that has been placed to that moment in the reality you are viewing that activates said thought.. enter sacred symbolism & geometry. heavy duty shit lol.. |
Its called the power of suggestion
Everything you see in this world anymore is all about auggestive imagery. You see it. You like it. You do. Real deal shit |
You can channel a succubus througj lucid dreaming btw. Just tonstay on topic. Its fun
|
I hear if you stay calm enough during those stages you could astral project. I've gotten far enough to hear loud ringing noses , and this feeling like everything is shaking. It's weird I stopped trying after that but ever since that day my sleep paralysis has gotten worse. I be surprised if there is not one single week I don't go through sleep paralysis now shit sucks tbh
|
what im describing is similiar to de-ja-vu.. at that point in time somethin triggered you to recall what you had previously projected in a dream. whether it was the words spoken, the smell, the emotion you felt, or everything as a whole.. you suddenly go aha I dreamed this without even being able to recall when or what dream it actually was or if u even rlly dreamed it because the connection is made subconsciously and wasnt triggered until it manifested in reality.
same rules govern thoughts placed through the astral realm.. something in this reality has to link your subconscious mind to this moment in reality in order to bring the thought out of the subconscious and in to the forefront of your mind. |

Initially I mean, that's interesting that it has increased your sp since. I can't/won't sleep on my back anymore |
remote viewing, astral projection, hypnotism
are all one in the same describing a phenomenon that is so ancient in nature the sumerians, egyptians, and mayans were able to use it to understand space in a way we still dont today without ever having to build a rocket, use a telescope or physically step foot off this planet. |
Religion is the best example of astral projected inception there is.. well placed strategical thoughts over centuries that have caused more deaths and division then your mind will ever comprehend.
