question was posed to me, and I had a hard time thinking of anyone, mostly because I don't listen to many white rappers. Best I could come up with were Aesop Rock and Eyedea in terms of being underground and dope, and then Bubba Sparxxx for a more mainstream dude. Bubba is worthy of being joke fodder, BUT he's a dope lyricist and has an original sound, which I tend to value most in artists.

anyway, who would you guys say?

Idk tbh there's a few in the mix...I've personally been getting in to Lil Dicky a lot recently.

Don't like Aesop, very big fan of Eyedea...and word, Bubba decent too.

dude came up with grandmaster caz and shit
had a hit record in 1987 changed up his style and was outspoken against sexism and violence toward women.
took the time to learn to play bass and upright cello
was so instrumental in the beastie boys, his death spelled their end.
started in a punk band and got mad respect when he died from all major hip hop players
only beastie to rap entire songs himself

@Diablo if I provide my own parameters then I wouldn't need anyone else's opinions. I'd rather see what other people think greatness is and go from there.

I can ride with this. I always thought of Mike D as the best rapper in the Beastie Boys, but MCA was probably the more important member.

Aye beastie boys were ill came with sum raw shit as for white rappers they wasnf really considered rappers maybe til later i ther career when they came out with that song about like da future and like way things was like going techno style really u talk to most white guys theres only a handful ie. Eminem dont know i never really felt hes got a few tracks buut most of em are like idk what the word is but like eminem produce them himself hes on there with another rapper and if u listen to the tracks like for example anything from 8 mile which is probably his best work ummm yeah thats all i gotta say about him most of the shit he produced himself kust isnt that good really....imo anywayz...

Bubba sparx is terrible wtf lmao. Maybe i just skipped over his career tho idunno. If you can link something that seperates him from the terrible sea of white rappers id like to hear it

Im having a hard time with this topic.

My personal favorite of everyone named is paz. But i think he just released an album or is about too, and i couldnt care less. His last few have been so bad. He is still good for maybe 2 songs an album i would listen too when im embracing the drunk depressed angry italian in me tho.

Action bronson is the other but he still feels to new and also makes music i dont care for. But he is more well rounded than paz.

So for me its probably between them two

Action Bronson was good for a stretch, but I've really tired of him lately as a rapper. He's not even trying to catch a beat these days. From Bon Appetit ..... Bitch through Blue Chips 2, you could feel his hunger (as a rapper, not just because he's fat). On Mr. Wonderful and in his guest appearances over the past three years, he seems to feel like he made it.

MC Serch deserves a passing mention. I cannot believe @Allen Knight has let this thread go on without a Lil Wyte mention. I don't like him much, but Mac Miller is skilled as hell and seems to be improving on not being a little punk dick.

The truth is El-P probably has had the best career of any white rapper other than Eminem/Beastie Boys and is definitely the one I listen to the most, even if I don't like his rap nearly as much as his production.
