The Dead Poet 02-10-2016 10:06 PM

Aquemini

Pharaohs Army 02-10-2016 10:43 PM

the answer is no; no such thing as a perfect album.
i think the artists mentioned here would say the same, as they are/were probably always "striving for better"

I was gonna say ATLiens

I've always thought The Roots - Do You Want More?!!!??! was flawless.

Blu & Exile - Below The Heavens

CunninLynguists - Dirty Acres

ATCQ - Midnight Marauders

Jurassic 5 - Quality Control

Aceyalone - Book Of Human Language

Zion I - Mind Over Matter

Illmatic is perfect. It gives itself no room for flaws. An intro, nine tracks produced by legends at their peaks and only one, very memorable, guest spot. Nas, meanwhile, is focused on sticking to his strengths. I don't mind when people say Illmatic is boring, but it definitely isn't flawed. It accomplished everything it set out to accomplish.

This is a garbage opinion.

uh-oh 02-11-2016 06:27 AM

Every album has something i personally skip. But reasonable doubt has maybe 2 i skip. Same with illmatic.

Those are the two closest. The only other album that only has a couple songs i skip is hassaan mackeys daily bread

I'm legitimately curious and not criticizing you: What do you skip on Illmatic? I'm guessing the intro (which barely counts) and ... "One Love"?

RHCP is my favorite band that still performs. But srsly, best band ever? Do you even Beatles brah?

Ghost1 02-12-2016 09:38 PM

Stones > beatles

PancakeBrah 02-12-2016 11:00 PM

I PERSONALLY THINK THAT YEEZUS IS THE ONLY PERFECT ALBUM

Yea halftime and one love, but i still like them so i guess it doesnt count as much as the songs i skip on reasonable doubt. When i skip those its more because im trying to hear represent for the 9000th time, where as i skip brooklyns finest for example because its a terrible song thats out of place.

Certain 02-13-2016 03:04 PM

"Ain't No Nigga" is the worst song on Reasonable Doubt — all the way down to a stolen beat.

Ghost1 02-13-2016 03:07 PM

Yea I was gonna say I skip ain't no nigga if I skip anything.

Certain 02-13-2016 03:15 PM

Still crazy to me that Jay Z ("Ain't No Nigga"), Nas ("Nastradamus") and DMX ("Get At Me Dog") all had big singles that straight-up ripped EPMD beats.

sral 02-15-2016 09:08 AM

lmao i havent listened for ages, but i love Ty - Upwards

Razah 02-15-2016 10:50 AM

No such thing as a perfect album for me. Even albums I consider classic, still have a song or two I will skip.

Certain 02-15-2016 11:23 AM

Personal Illmatic songs rankings:

1. It Ain't Hard to Tell
2. NY State of Mind
3. The World Is Yours
4. Represent
5. Memory Lane (Sittin' in the Park)
6. One Time 4 Your Mind
7. Life's a Bitch
8. Halftime
9. One Love

I'm not skipping any of those, but I guess I could see it with the last three.

Mr. J 02-15-2016 11:26 AM

Southernplayalistic...

PancakeBrah 02-15-2016 08:39 PM

Hey @Certain I'm curious as to how u rank Elzhi's take on illmatic?

Certain 02-15-2016 09:41 PM

I haven't listened to that in like three years. I remember it being surprisingly good.
