I dropped 250 on records today

I wish i could freeze my card for awhile.

Once i get them tho expect a thread with a tape in it that will be ignored by you peasants

But nah for real tho im hype as shit. Found a digging service. Basically a guy who makes beats, has money and lives in LA with access to everything. Im sure im paying double what he did. But it will be worth it. Whats 20 dollars for a record when the beat i make will definately sell for 100

Just gotta keep deluding myself

But word im hype. Bored. And this sites dead today, and or im just on alot today. Peace

Allen Knight 01-20-2016 11:14 PM

dope shit bruh, lookin forward to hearing them jawns u make.

Greed 01-21-2016 02:44 AM

2016 starting off fire for me. W2 just came today. Plan on paying off these rims and getting a new spot. Only after that will i be able to get a computer to get back to the music. Ill probably build one, but yeah, thats the plan.

uh-oh 01-21-2016 06:47 AM

Word get it bro if you need help holla

Depending on what you do you dont need to build a super computer or anything. If its just for recording really any modern pc will do, better off dropping more money on the soundcard/interface and mic/headphones

If your making beats and more cpu intensive stuff youll want a decent processor and a bunch of ram.

Recording is pretty straightforward, just laying vocal tracks onto premade tracks. With making beats tho you got anywhere from 4-20 tracks, some of those rendering sounds as they play with vsts, and those channels having plugins on top of them, thats when it can get cpu intensive

But word get it bro

Im bout to go in this year

Geno 01-21-2016 11:30 AM

so looking forward to this

Chill Phil 01-21-2016 12:40 PM

I love uh oh tapes though...

El Muffin 01-21-2016 12:57 PM

Me too

I remember he had a tape that had these minimalist titles so I went thru n titled each beat according to the feeling it gave me

It was fun
@uh-oh u have that thread?

It was the tape with the cover of the drawing of you

uh-oh 01-21-2016 01:19 PM

Yea that was just last year lol. I was gonna drop another one but been sidetracked. Made this today

https://soundcloud.com/jameshalton/12116a

MC Fussy 01-21-2016 06:20 PM

UNG

that beat goes hard nigga why didn't you hit me back with that when i said i wanted gangsta shit? gonna play me like a suckaduck.

ay tho, how you gonna sell someone a beat and they can't even sell that shit with all these illegal samples???

b real nigga

ay do imma jack your beats and put out a mixtape yahfeels throw a funccction charge the homies $5 dames for free tho

ill hit u 50% if we get anythin

uh-oh 01-21-2016 06:45 PM

Lol i just made that this morning. You specifically asked for shit with cleared samples and what i sent were the only ones "cleared" for use

As far as selling them thats just part of the game BROTHA. Im an outlaw

But ill have you know i release all of these for free and only "profit"from exposure gained

So i could be sued but more in cease and desist ways not big money ways. That falls on the artist if they use it and get rich off it. Which they wont.

Im a hobbyist so i view it from a who cares standpoint lol

The Dead Poet 01-21-2016 06:49 PM

waste of money

The Dead Poet 01-21-2016 06:53 PM

I only buy vinyl of shit that I actually bump now.

Stopped record buying. Probably have a couple thousand in storage and my garage...but I've slowly been getting rid of them. I'd find myself sampling a high rate file of something I had on vinyl just because I didn't feel like ripping it myself.

The Dead Poet 01-21-2016 06:54 PM

as for that beat you posted. Not mysteez. Kinda sounded repetive but that's probably due to me not liking that sort of style more than anything.

uh-oh 01-21-2016 07:07 PM

Word i only copped what i did cuz it cant be found on the internet, and there was low quality clips of what was on them. And its fireeeeeeee

You are in santa barbara right? I dunno how far that is from la but im sure even santa barbara has better digging then canton ohio

And ive scoured the internet. There isnt shit i havent skimmed through so when i hear shit i will definately flip ill throw money at it at this point lol

Its not a quality thing, ill flip low quality youtube rips lol, its just an i need that thing and the vinyl is the only way to get it thing

I'm in Oxnard now, Still work in Santa Barbara.

About 30-40 mins from LA. Digging in LA sucks though. I mean there's dope shit. But these shiesty ass fuckers will charge an arm and a fucking leg for a record. I blame the hipsters.

uh-oh 01-21-2016 07:31 PM

no doubt. i paid 20 for this, sealed. he put up another one starting at 40 since i bought the one so quick lmao

https://beatnickdee.app.box.com/s/zt...35jz950ojb5fad

that shit is so nasty. can't wait til i get that. paid 20 for the whole lp tho, that clip just has a couple songs.

basically just bought it for that first sample, but i was able to find other songs off of it online, so there are a couple more flippable ones. that first dope one i can't find anywhere online tho

The Dead Poet 01-21-2016 07:38 PM

sounds dope. you trying to give the kid the name of the record or you being a weenie? haha

uh-oh 01-21-2016 07:55 PM

The chosen generation

Not sure what the lp is called, the two songs i found on youtube didnt name the album. The cover is a black and white image of the group

Edit- the ebay auctions dont name anything either. Its just like "crazy soul gospel detroit rare etc"

If there werent soundclips available id think it was a trap lol

The Dead Poet 01-21-2016 08:01 PM

word, i'll see if I can gaffle that shit.

yo you seen anywhere else that has some more recent drum broker packs for DL? That coli thread never got updated. There's been a few that I was tempted to buy.

uh-oh 01-21-2016 08:25 PM

Nah not that i know of. I found some in a torrent but they were the same ones from that thread

MC Fussy 01-21-2016 08:27 PM

cmon nigga calm down the title is the damn date son

brah ill flip this shit for a million views on youtube just doing a rap parody in blackface

MC Fussy 01-21-2016 08:29 PM

ay can i vote on the winter topicals??

Certain 01-25-2016 12:50 PM

@uh-oh, listen to this new Adrian Younge soul album. A lot of stuff like this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WD3z6X9ha3Y

uh-oh 01-25-2016 06:19 PM

Word im gonna check it. I didnt know he made a new one. Im just weird about sampling him because literally probably 200thousand other people are

Hes stupid dope tho. Like everything hes done

Certain 01-25-2016 06:28 PM

This one is better than his first Something About April from 2011. And yeah, you can definitely hear potential samples all over the place. He is our Teenie Hodges, and we need more out of him like this.

uh-oh 01-25-2016 07:33 PM

He is definitely dope. His arrangements can be chaotic but it all vibes

I really dont know if anyone else does what he does anymore from a pure producong standpoint. There are bands who make dope classic music, with the old school sound (like the menahan street band) but i dont know from a producer standpoint, he stands alone.

The Dead Poet 01-25-2016 08:23 PM

I don't think it's any where near as good as the first something about april or the venice dawn album. But it's good.

I too wouldn't even attempt to chop up anything of his. I'm sure the lazy diggers will come in droves and droves to do that shit though.

Certain 01-25-2016 08:56 PM

I've only listened twice to it, but I really dug a few of the lighter tracks that set it apart. "April Sonata" is amazing. It has less hip hop influence than the first Something About April.

uh-oh 01-27-2016 10:28 PM

I got the records today. Fucking dope.

The problem is recording them this fucking mpc is killing me. As theyre recording them im monitoring them and it sounds crystal clear warm and beautiful. When i play what i recorded though it sounds terrible and skips. Might be asio drivers. Might be my pc? Might be because i spilled a beer on it? Who knows

Its just weird im listening to it record perfect but that actual wave file/digital audio is fucked

Maybe i need to bypass the mpc, my turntable is regular tho not usb. Just red and white rcas. Maybe if i get rca to 1/4 i can record into my interface. Nothings ever easy

The Dead Poet 01-28-2016 08:39 PM

might be the rca's themselves. I'd for sure go through the interface though either way. When I pull from vinyl it's always through the mbox into protools. Maybe try soundforge just to see if it is the connection to the mp that's fucked (doubt it if they're playing clearly).

uh-oh 01-28-2016 08:56 PM

Yea i got it working through sound forge. Its the mpc software im thinking. The only rca ins i have are on the mpc, but using the mpcs soundcard i was able to record direct into aound forge with no problems. Recorded a bunch of shit today. Gonna go through and record the rest tomorrow, and then go in Saturday. Copped like 9 more too ill get next thursday.

I also got some beyer dynamic dt990s or some shit headphones. So crisp and clear its ridiculous. The wire on my mpc headphones died and they were shit anyways so instead of just buying a new cord had to grab some new headphones since i do most of my work in them.

Now im back to being poor tho. Yearly bonus gone. Feds paid off. Records and headphones lol.

uh-oh 01-28-2016 09:13 PM

i should probably pay attention to hip hop lol. just realized this shit was used by drake

http://www.mediafire.com/listen/v8f2...ng+In+Love.mp3

theres some other heat on this record tho and the dude who flipped that for drake did alot with it that i'm not going to. ima still get at it.

also disappointed to see it has a million and a half views on youtube lmao, so it aint some obscure shit.

but this was a 5 dollar sealed record, that i thought would be the weakest of the bunch. them white dudes got down yo

The Dead Poet 01-29-2016 07:31 PM

^that link didn't work. what was it?

uh-oh 01-29-2016 07:50 PM

Hamilton joe frank and reynolds falling in love

Recording some french soundtrack shit now

Francois de roubaix

Certain 01-29-2016 07:57 PM

Here's a sample suggestion. Right around the 2 minute mark, in particular.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iq6nZ5BR8QE

Geno 01-30-2016 11:41 AM

Patiently waiting bruh..

The Dead Poet 01-30-2016 07:51 PM

beginning should be super obvious to you all. As for 2 min mark...I tend to chop any and everything into billion's of pieces....but with something like that you are going to have to pitch it down (it's too fast) then you got his vocals in there (which I tend to like)....but also you have those drums...which is really going to make it pointless to cut it especially when you're going to pitch it down. My 2 cents.

Edit - It's also curtis mayfield. If you're going to dig for samples dig deeper. His whole catalog has been done.

I don't dig for samples. I don't produce beats. I was listening to Curtis Mayfield. The spot around 2 minutes caught my ear, and I thought it'd work well. Now that you point it out, yes, Ma$e used the beginning. Pay me more if you want deeper cuts.
