hey Jay-Z fans...
|
Boo
|
Nas won the battle (it was close tho, super ugly went in) but Jay won the war.
|
Jay won what war?
this dude basically swagger jacked his way to the upper echelon of the business and hoodwinked many any the process. Dude is a clone of everyone he encountered |
Nas fell off bad
He wishes he was Jay |
lmao this dude is like the only irrelevant cat from the golden era to still be relevant and original and still kills it on the mic. Dude had like 3 or 4 fire features just last year alone and killed every last one.
fluck outta here i |
Nas still raps? Roflzzzzz
He must be MC Elenin |

He has more classic albums. They're both all time greats tho. |
I have never liked jay z I'm more of the tech n9ne fan

I may be one the only people here who think tech is crazy with it. Jay's just maybe the most naturally gifted rapper ever imo in terms of flow, he was born to rap, it takes 0 effort to him. The only person maybe more naturally gifted is Royce. |
Maybe even Plies
|
You lost me.
|
Get that royce bullshit out of here.
Nas decommissioned jay with ether. It took a lot of snake moves but jay managed to fuck nas girl and then write an opera about it with his future wife effectively winning the war. And ill tell you what tech nine problem is. He switches his style up so much per song that it becomes repetitive and expected. Thats why he could never fully break into mainstream all his songs damn near sound the same. |

Do u listen to music or do u just skim through it - Jay Z
U niggaz hip hop knowledge and taste is wack af |
Takeover didn't fully focus on Nas though so...
plus Ether could have been written by Saigon when he did Underachiever |
Quotable vs quotable
Tell me who wrote better |

I still listen to "Takeover" and "Ether" on a regular basis. Not many diss tracks I can say that about.

Nas > Jay
.. but I realize that's a minority opinion. Some of it probably has to do with age, but Jay never put anything out that can even remotely touch Illmatic. I'd take Lost Tapes over most of his catalog. Something about making a career out of flipping other people's (better) lines rubs me the wrong way. I've also never really been a fan of his voice either. Plus, his fake street gangster bravado is hollow as fuck. I know everybody does it but his threat-line raps are so lol. He grew up in Marcy back when it was shitty but the dude was just an average high school kid and then got out quickly. Also, Nas is a god tier storyteller, which is my soft spot for rappers. |
This is preference i suppose. Illmatic stillmatic and life is good were dope to me but so was reasonable doubt American gangster and holy grail. Jay sells game and nas is a storyteller. This is song cry vs. Undying love. Nas is very remorseful in his raps while jay preaches doing it right. Im a huge fan of both but i do not put on nas when im entertaining. He can be a bit of a downer.
|
My thing with Nas is that he has no musical sense. He let Salaam Remi, a garbage producer with a dated style, dominate a decade of his career. Those awesome songs on The Lost Tapes? He ditched them in favor of the crap he used as filler on I Am ... and Stillmatic. He spent a decade trying to make a club banger even though that's not in his stylistic wheelhouse at all.
Nas probably is more talented at rapping than Jay Z. Certainly, it's very close. But his career disappoints me for that reason. He tried to be trendy, while Jay Z was making the trends. He tried to be popular, while Jay Z was redefining what popularity meant for rappers. But more than anything, he picked bad producers to stick with, while Jay Z went with Kanye West and Just Blaze, then picked out select times to use the biggest names around. |

How does it feel being wrong on such a regular basis @eng?
|
it doesn't (because i'm not). feeble attempt at a loaded question. at least your folly is consistent.
|
I'll put my folly in your anus.
|
no thanks, i'm not dagel.
|
Yes you are.
|
Jay-Z is the better entertainer and nas is the better lyricist. Ether killed the battle. Why is this even still in debate?
|
the black album.
|
Whoever created this thread must be a faggot
|
Jay also put on alot of producers like 9th for example.
Illmatic is the best album of all time probably. I put reasonable doubt right up there though and 9 other jay albums that are all leaps and bounds ahead of everything else nas ever made. Nas is good for 2 songs an album. Jay was good for 10. Nowadays i care less for either tho. But as it stands today id rather hear a new nas track than a jay track. Mainly because you know what your getting with nas. Hes gonna come like he always does. The only thing thats gonna make or break it is rhe beat. Jay on the other hand even ruins good beats nowadays. That said jay is so far ahead of nas it isnt even fair to discuss. |
