Greatest Eminem single.
Vote.
And if I didn't nominate your favorite, your taste sucks. |
Poor list.
|
I think it's hard to deny Lose Yourself as the greatest, unless you have a wonky way to measure greatness. Not my favorite, but it checks off all the boxes that constitute greatness.
edit: no Real Slim Shady, though? that might be his biggest hit |
lmao i voted for The Way I Am
prob not his best single as in production or sales or general commercialismability but fuck it thats the one i'd actually listen to right now over the others sing for the moment cool too rest are ass imho guilty conscience half cool, i fux with the original warped shit about voices in heads |
Voted rican in the polls.....obviously
But I'd say my name is was his most important.....(greatest is a tricky word) Rap god was equally important IMHO and also maybe one of his most intricate pieces ever put together |
lose yourself gets my vote

Idk though, Real Slim Shady took his fame/popularity/sales to another level I feel. Those are pretty important components of great music imo.

The answer is obviously Stan, by the way.

best verse goes to renegade
|
Dead Wrong w/ Biggie
That verse. But it's Stan for song IMO.. nostalgia wins w/ that one. |
I was torn on "Lose Yourself" vs. "Stan."
My favorite Eminem verse might be the second in "Brain Damage": Quote:

Em a trip for that verse.
|
My favorite Eminem song would be "If I Had" from the Slim Shady EP. "My Name Is", "Stan", and "Lose Yourself" would be the singles.
My favorite verse would be nearly all of his underground stuff aside from the "Infinity EP", but his best verses are the ones that tell stories so I'll go with "97 Bonnie And Clyde", "Stan," and "I Remember." |
Voted all I am
Dope shit commercialized Shit was well written But so was Stan, guilty conscience and the 8 mile joint My shit is till I collapse |
Forgot about dre, fav verse. Way I am/guilty con for nostalgia. But I heavily played his benzino disses and Mariah and all that shit. Dude got some uh scratch that buffalo bill is my shit, along with that I am having a relapse single..
Man how the hell did he manage to get more felony charges He's already got life in jail, man what the hell is his problem? Well to be honest, the smell of these chronic, leaves make me Hella demonic They compelled me to kill this elderly man, and I get these panic attacks.. |
I've always loved his verse on Hellbound. Also the first verse on Bully. Third verse on Amityville. If I Get Locked Up Tonight, too. Rarely listen to him anymore, but just thinking about it he's got so many dope verses it's stupid.
|
It's Stan.
I wouldn't argue with My Name Is too much, though. |
All classics without a doubt!
When that beat drops on Stan!!!!!!!! gets my vote from this list Best verse hmmmmm........ hmmmmmmm........... dunno where to begin tbh! |

Some of his shit in this video is legit the best I've ever heard from him, or any rapper. Thug and crook; every drug in the book I've done it My 9's at your frame,is that your chain? Run it Who wants to die of an overdose of excessive flavor? Aggressive nature got me stickin' you for your Progressive pager Spectacular, battle rap manufacturer Stole your mom's Acura, wrecked it, then sold it back to her ( Right right right ! ! ! ) (( Ding ! ! ! )) The doctors you'll need after our battle are known as psychiatrics I'll tell the nurses to hold a bed for you And I'mma make sure you come back for it So barricade your infants, put up some extra fences A woman beater, wanted for repeated sex offenses ( Ooh ) ..Take em' on long vacation trips Kidnappin' em' and trappin' em' in abusive relationships Mess up your face and lips Slit your stomach and watch your gut split Gut you wit that razor that I use to shave my nuts wit ((Laughter)) Mama don't you cry, your son's too far gone I'm so high, I don't even know what label I'm on I'm messed up, feelin' like an over worked plumber I'm sick of the crap, what's Dr. Kevorkian's phone number? ( Ha.. Hot ) I stay higher than racial tension, with a facial expression Tensed up like I'm suffering from a case of nasal congestion Eyes hazel complexion, beige, age still in question Critics hate my tape, kids can't wait for the next one As long as there's rejects, my tape never ejects the deck That's the level of respect each CD gets While ya'll graspin at straws like me snorting crushed Aspirin And ghasping at air and collapsing in malls I'm just a realistic impression of artistic expression Who's tape is in the deck when kids shot up the delicatessen So when I launch a verse full of controverse That'll haunt you worse than Ma$e before he joined a church I'm sorry kids I dismiss this class I'm going back in the broom closet to sniff this gas Um, Mr. Mathers just missed the bathroom Pissed his pants and the world still kissed his ass This is my last album 'cause this is my last Valium Just pick my ass up when I pass out in the bathroom If ya'll don't like the shit that you're hearing Just blow me til you lips get to smearing And I can se emy dick disappearing Things just ain't the same for psychos Guns and rifles, sharp knives, I like those I might just O.D. by the end of tonight's show With the right dose I might wipe out this light pole, but The strangest things can happen from jabbin' Pregnant women in the abdomen 'til they can't have children Bitches get slapped up and drastic ass kicks Gay-bashin' fags with tire irons and ratchets I seen 'em come, I've watched 'em go Versace (Whoa, hey!) Liberace (ho!) I might of bashed somebody you probably know Buncha faggots in your crib screamin' "It's not me! No!" Drag 'em out the closet and across the flo' Went and paid 'em a visit in the hospital Stab 'em in the fuckin' tonsils with a popsicle stick And sit back and watch 'em choke 'Cause every chair that I throw People sue me for dough They press charges on me So I can’t fight anymo' But every girl that I choke I got lawyers I know Who got judges they know So I suggest you stay home http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wTQeaIkIkRg |
I'm way out the loop on recent music though obviously cause I never heard of rap god or rican
Voted way I am cause that shit banged back in the day |

That song bangs though |
I picked The Way I Am.. just for the time period it came out in
If I Get Locked Up Tonight though.. Hellbound.. dude has a lot of dope ass shit. Am I the only one that thinks Relapse might have been his sickest CD if it wasn't for the accent? |
Quote:
My lil bro is the only I ever met who liked that album and he's about that age |
Close between lose yourself and sing for the moment for me. I went with lose yourself. Don't know why everybody picked The way I am, it was a great song but lacks the depth of the two I mentioned. Overall Lose yourself wins, although I am particularly fond of Soldier (prob not a single)
|
@Certain how did you feel about Beautiful from Relapse and Headlights from MMLP2?
Imo while the albums may have not hit the heights of his first three (though still good imo, they would make my top 5 Em albums, some people say Infinite, I don't cuz it wasn't great, poor production, lacking in identity, lacking in direction, literally all he had was his ability to rhyme, he carried the album off that alone) those singles had plenty of artistic merit and skill. |
Also, has anyone noticed Eminem changes his style in pretty much every album? Not just his style, his entire sound, his voice, his flow, the speed of his rhymes. Idk why and idk anyone else who does it, I know others who do different things in each new album as all should try to do, but to try and completely reinvent yourself every time is odd, it's risky too and why he can swing and miss at times and at other times strike gold.
|
Eh I think sslp an mmlp were same style
Em show was a jewel of its own Then he went accent style for like 3 albums Then recovery an mmlp 2 were same style So not every album.....but I see ur point I always attributed it to him being out of touch with the scene honestly......Wen he dropped he was so embedded in the culture that he was able to create his own lane.....after the first 3 albums when he got money and his drug problem escalated I feel like he lost touch w the culture .........it's more apparent then ever now w him going back to mmlp to "give the fans wat they want" .....aka.......idk wat the fuck the fans want. From a skillset perspective alone he may possibly be the best mainstream writer ever to bless the mic......but without having that in......that window....i mean.....it's like listening to ur grandpa tell u about style. U have no idea wats cool grandpa u old fagot. |
I agree with everything you said.

Which album, MMLP or Relapse? I'm guessing you meant Relapse. That album was pretty dope as far as what he wrote, I'm telling ya, if it wasn't for the accent, that shit would've been a super solid album. |
