Do other cultures judge by the same standards as Anericans?
 

As an American, I myself can name things by which we judge others. Feel free to add as well!

Financial status
Appearance - clothes, shoes, phones etc..
Opinions
Hygiene - bad breath, greasy hair etc..
Hobbies and interest. - I do believe as a culture we judge others on what they like.. Sad.

I was eating Chinese at a little place in this strip mall in town. Idek what it's called its just Chinese letters above the door.

But as we were talking, this topic came up. And we thought about how other cultures pass judgement on each other.

For example if I was wearing a backwards hat, to some people that's a sign of disrespect.. or that I'm a "thug"

Would other cultures think the same if they seen one of their own with the same backwards hat on?

Thoughts? And if you're from another country tell me how you do things and stuff.

There's no debate on the subject. Everyone judges other people based on their clothes, appearance and where they come from/cultural history etc. even if they think they don't. It's how humans as a species work. It's ingrained in us as part of our survival instincts with minor differences.

In Costa Rica, we are governed by religion and fanatasim. This means that the Church has a huge impact on the goverment and society. Many trends (music, fashion, dance, movies have been banned because the church is against it.
