Discussion: How To Attract More Poets to the LGPA

Okay guys. I feel like we're lacking a slightly larger amount of core members to assure greater success for this league. So far I like this league: good writers, good voters, and a considerable degree of enthusiasm and spirit. This is a young league. We've got to become missionaries and go seek out some more talent!

Personal story/attempt:

I went on DeviantArt.com and browsed their Literature / Poetry section. I commented on 10 or so poems, and then came back when they replied, and asked them if they were interested in a poetry league. 5 or so declined but said thanks anyway. The other few said they would think about it, or keep it as a resource. None committed. I know that if I do this to 25 or so more poets on there, I'm bound to bring one stable, active participant in the league. If we all do this, I think we can attract 2 or 3 new poets.

You know what? I'm going to make a post like "Post your Poems" on a site of ill repute and if I find anyone who seems a solid addition I will invite them. I'll keystyle some stuff just to keep the thread interesting and yeah, I'll try to get some fresh meat in the fray. :)

I actually would like people to attempt this - why be in a league if you don't want to see it get better and expand?

Damn, bro - a lot of no shows this week. Thanks for being reliable and consistent those who did show - Vulgar and Inno. :)

I wrote a shorter epic, but felt I wanted to go against the grain. It was also late at night too - bah. Thanks for showing too guys!

I'm just a little bummed I have nothing to vote given that we're the only match up. By the way, I got at least one new member on the board from my attempts, I will probably make another thread soon and see if I can gather up some more.

Do you think restarting the League would help? Maybe try tagging some people to see if you can get some votes from outside? I don't know, it's undoubtedly a difficult position to be in.
