I've actually decided that I don't think poetry battles should count for the overall site record here. I respect poetry and I respect the association/league, but it feels counterproductive to attach site records to it. There are league records, which is enough, IMO. I'd rather not convolute existing and future records with "wins and losses" for participating in a poetry competition. In my eyes, this discourages battlers who want to try out poetry, the consequence being a blemish to their honorable records.

@Innovator @Sharp What do you guys think of this assessment?

I dunno if he'll be in the poetry ish, keep @ing him though and bring it to his attention. He might play. He only usually signs up to ish if I make him aware of it, he doesn't lurk here as often as me

The AOWL guys should def tag him though, his record doesn't do him justice and he's got record for showing to battles he's had

To me it does. Winning is everything. I'm super-competitive. I wouldn't have been doing this ish 10+ years if I didn't want to constantly prove I'm one of the best to do it.

To some I guess winning is part of the fun, to me winning IS the fun.

I like to know I'm still one of the best out at what I choose to do. I don't even value multiple time champs as highly as I value people who've champed, then gone on to defend their title multiple times.

Reaching the top is one thing, having that relentless streak to want to remain there when everyone below you is gunning for your spot is another.

It's why I've stuck at it as long as I have. I thrive on the competitive side. I'm here to be the best and beat the best.

I always thought topical should be kept seperate record wise from battles
it only works to hinder cross over writers

your call bro. I respect your opinion either way, though my 2 cents (from a purely battle perspective) is that if there is a certain amount of effort put into it (which for me is 8 lines+) then it should count. But considering poetry is much more subjective and not competitive by nature, I feel you. Especially if you think attaching the record to it is keeping people from competing.

But I gotta think about how the champ matches come to happen when there's no records. Just something to consider.
