The greatest who ever lived....don't believe me? Ask this collection of some of the greatest players, past and present, commentators, coaches, and Kobe Bryant for some reason.

Quote:

"The other day I saw one of his games. He was running with the ball at a hundred percent full speed, I don’t know how many touches he took, maybe five or six, but the ball was glued to his foot. It’s practically impossible." - Real Madrid legend Raul
Quote:

"I have played against Platini, Maradona, Cruyff and played with George Best — a lot of big names, but none of them has been able to do what Messi does. Two years ago I said that the best player I played against was Maradona and the best player I have played with was Bestie. But I can now say I have never seen a player as good as Messi. He’s in a league of his own." - Former Tottenham star Gerry Armstrong
Quote:

"They tell me that all men are equal in God’s eyes, this player makes you seriously think about those words." - Football commentator Ray Hudson
Quote:

Ander Herrera (Athletic Bilbao) – “I’m not sure Messi is a human.”
Quote:

Kobe Bryant (LA Lakers) – “I wear Number 10 Jersey for the US National Team in honor of the Greatest athlete i have ever seen, Messi.”
Quote:

Diego Maradona (Ex Argentina) – “I have seen the player who will inherit my place in Argentine football and his name is Messi. Messi is a genius and he can become an even better player.”
Quote:

Roy Keane (Ex Manchester United) – “I was a big fan of Maradona growing up and of the current crop Ronaldo is good but Messi is the best I’ve ever seen. I don’t dish out praise lightly but Messi deserves it. I look for weaknesses in his game and I can’t find them.”
Quote:

Radamel Falcao (Athletico Madrid) – “Is Messi a real player or a Play Station character?”
Quote:

"Don't write about him, don't try to describe him. Just watch him." - Pep Guardiola
Quote:

"Messi is better than Maradona; he is more complete, more consistent, more spectacular. He is reinventing the game – a mix of the real and the virtual." - Tostão

Maradonna was incredible too and it is VERY close, and I try to be impartial always, especially as I am not Argentinian and do not support Barcelona so I don't have any bias in that regard, but bro, I watch Messi and I am 100% sure there has never been a better player.

Like the last quote says, just WATCH him, look at his fucking feet lmao his legs move like one of those cartoons where they run super fast and the legs are a blur, and even at that speed he has COMPLETE control over the ball, it does whatever he wants it to do...he actually might be an alien.

He's also the most consistent player of all time, he has been doing this week in, week out, for over a decade now, and aged just 28 he has already broken pretty much every record available to him.

Word

But all that you just said. Was said first about maradonna
So to me it likes saying lebron is better than jordan nah.

He is the original. I like messi hes dope as fuck yo. But maradonna was IT
Also maradonna won 2 world cups im sorry but that shit holds wait in my book
And back then im sure it was harder to do that. Messi is wait 0-1 in world cups?
Has he even made it the worlx cup?

He played in the world cup final last year, lost tho lol

I don't agree the world cup is the be all and end all, the champions league is MUCH higher quality and Messi has 4 to Maradonna's 1.

He has also already scored more goals than Maradona did in his career, and he's only 28 lol

He beats Maradonna from any angle you care to look at, but Maradona was also a genius so I can understand why you would say he's the greatest of all time, it's definitely very very close.

Messi is the GOAT. His goal against Bayern this year was ridiculous.

Split Eight 07-02-2015 12:47 AM

Messi been my favorite player for forever

wish he had carried Argentina to victory in the World Cup :/

El Muffin 07-02-2015 12:54 AM

Pele

Dyde. Watch vids on Pele

He may not be as quick or as powerful

But boy was he crafty

El Muffin 07-02-2015 12:55 AM

Srsly

Noone mentioned Pele itt?

Yeah u should all stfu

It's like watching a improv genius

N that's comin from someone who barely watches football

His skill is undeniable. N Ive seen all the ronaldis, messis n Maradona

Ronaldo is just a thoroughbred. Machine

Messi is a genius on the pitch

Maradona sold his soul to Satan or something

Pele is a lunatic/rain man

Huge compliment

Pele was not on the same level as any of these people.

He played in an era when there was no offside rule ffs.

If we're talking players left out of the convo, let's talk about Zidane, and the Brazilian Ronaldo, plus Ronaldinho and Romario too.

All of them were better than Pele.

Witty 07-02-2015 06:54 PM

Not to mention Makelele who is THE most underrated player in history imo.

He's @Certain's type of player.

Pretty much invented the CDM role, as it is utilized today.

Zen 07-02-2015 07:14 PM

Ronaldinho has the best skills I've ever seen.

Pele is overrated.

Maradona's the man.

Messi's the GOAT.

Also, his first touch was the best i've ever seen.

Instant control from any sort of pass.

Witty 07-02-2015 08:19 PM

Also....George Best was up there with Maradona, Zidane and Messi.

Too bad he had the curse of the Irish....aka alcoholism :/

best ripped apart shitty teams. zizou made Brazil look like a pub-team in his last tournament - at 34. all respect for best, self-destruction aside, he was a gifted dribbler, but not on the same tier. if you want criminally underrated, two names come to mind:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yLdRu...M3WX7-&index=5

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WVEcb...3WX7-&index=14

that messi compilation was beautiful, btw. i'll fallen out of love with football in the modern era and will probably only concede lionel's the objective goat in a decade when i can ruminate on his career, but zidane will endure as my personal favourite. i enjoy cruyff, too.

Best ripped apart the best European football had to offer at the time, he was European Footballer of the year (the predecessor to the Ballon D'or)...what more could he have done? Just because he didn't play in an era that was more competitive, doesn't mean he couldn't have. He had everything it takes as far as i can tell.

Also, I do rate Beardsley highly, but Le Tissier was incredible, and as you say very underrated.

Also, King Kenny?

Eŋg 07-02-2015 08:46 PM

best did nothing wrong except probably drink a good deal of his potential away. in another era he may have thrived and been comparable to all-time greats but i think he is a touch overrated. he was definitely a player - but one of the greatest? not for me.

my eldest brother's a liverpool fan so i'm too familiar with all the anfield legends. fowler was a beast in his day. le tissier was a joy to watch, and beardsley was all class -- all three had flair to their games, too, something generally lacking in english players (with a few exceptions).

I can't say greatest because as you said he threw it all away....but one of the most naturally gifted of all time? Absolutely imo.

Ah Fowler, the man they called God.

If only we had a player like him last season :(

Eŋg 07-02-2015 08:56 PM

lol. we have to strike a balance between god-given potential, accolades and overall performance though, otherwise we'd consider the recobas, denilsons, aimars, ortegas and cassanos of football's history, or careers like van basten's and ivan de la pena's plagued by injuries -- adriano had a wand for a left foot, for a season and a half. zlatan can pretty much do it all as a centre forward.

you're irish, i fully forgive your bias, just don't expect me to share it. i see best on a tier below the absolute top, but not miles off.

El Muffin 07-02-2015 10:40 PM

It's coz Pele black

Ghost1 07-03-2015 07:59 AM

The op Messi vid an engs Zidane vid gave me the chills

Dope

El Muffin 07-03-2015 08:05 AM

Ok u guys r right

Some of that shit Zidane wss doing was incredible

His timing...

Iono if his ball skills were the greatest but his game was cerebral. I can see that

El Muffin 07-03-2015 08:09 AM

Excuse my ignorance. His ball skills are amazing

What I mEan is he looks as if he's just mind fucking everybody

boof 07-03-2015 09:25 AM
