Peavey Cirrus - Bass
Fender Strat - Guitar

Gibson LP deluxe from like 76

Schecter Omen-6
Epiphone DR100 or similar (lol)

Recently sold my PRS SE-EG, miss the fucking whammy

uh-oh 05-17-2015 03:37 AM

i got the cheapest ibanez electric bass money can buy probably.

i can play the fuck out of 1 string at a time lmao. its all thats really needed for what i do. i rarely use it tho. if im making a beat i'll filter the sample to bring the original bassline to the forefront, but in doing that alot of the time only the really low bass notes come through and the higher bass notes get filtered out

so it'll be like

BOOM, BUH-BOOM, BUH-BOOM, BUH-BOOM
bahhh, buh-bahhh, buh-bahhh, buh-bahhh

the second line being the higher notes, they are quieter alot of the time after filtering, so i'll find the note closest to it with my tonedeaf ears on my bass, and fill in for it so its like

BOOM, BUH-BOOM, BUH-BOOM, BUH-BOOM
BAHHH, BAH-BAHHHH, BAH-BAHHH, BAH-BAHHH

all CAPS

but yea.

there are other guitars around. my pops has a couple epiphones aka poor mans gibsons. the jumbo acoustic is dope. the electric is whatever. both those are normal guitars

i'd like to eventually get a jumbo type acoustic bass, or an upright bass to actually learn how to play tho.

uh-oh 05-17-2015 03:39 AM

this is the epiphone my pops has. its pretty ill.

i had him playing the get in my car riffs by 50 the other day, and the when it rains it pours shit by 50 too.

i wish i could do that shit. i can just show him some shit and he just knows what notes it is off top

Xquisite 05-17-2015 03:39 AM

This is me fucking around freestyling on the bass.

The Guitar Hero era was a sad and depressing era for the PancakeBro.

I five starred all the songs on Guitar Hero 3 on expert and most of the other guitar hero/rock band games. 100%/gold star on most of the easy and mid tier songs (still on Expert). I'm not proud of it, but it's a fact. I was a 1%'er when it came to clickin' the buttons bruh.

Hush pls

El Muffin 05-17-2015 04:55 AM

I got that Keith Urban tutorial joint

I'm like Lenny Kravitz but cooler

Split Eight 05-17-2015 05:44 AM

Guitar Hero is way harder than actually learning an instrument

Ok u got it chief

When you're doing the expert difficult songs it's pretty stupid. But learning actual guitar is so infinitely more difficult it doesn't really compare. The biggest limitation when it comes to Guitar Hero mastery is finger dexterity, mostly tremolos turned into strummed alternating notes, etc. With enough time committed, Guitar Hero/Rock Band can be muscled through, although it's still pretty skillful. Whereas learning actual guitar not only includes finger dexterity but actual skill, an ear for tones, subtle intri***ies, timing, ghost notes, so many things. It's embarassing to say, but if I added the total run time I played guitar hero together it'd be in the 2-3 months straight range. If I committed myself to actual guitar in such a way I'd be a novice at best.

This is the gayest post I've ever made. I have no regrets.

Hush 05-17-2015 05:55 AM

Guitar hero expert gave me arm convulsions and a claw hand

PancakeBrah 05-17-2015 05:56 AM

I started lifting after my Guitar Hero/SadCake phase. My left forearm is forever more defined/striated than my right simply due to that game.

They're rebooting Rock Band sometime this year. I'm going to buy it :(.

oats 05-17-2015 06:05 AM

Nice, most people I know that play guitar cut their teeth on Squires. I've had quite a few Strats over the years, I've had models from the 1970's, 80's and 90's. I sold my favorite years ago, it was a really dope old mexican strat. Right now I mainly use my Starcaster. It's basically just the strat but with a star point shaped head on it. It has alot of sentimental value to me so I will always keep it.

People don't sink time into guitar like they do video games

You don't get feedback from a GH controller, there's no feel to it, you're just clicking arbitrary buttons in an arbitrary pattern to the tune to a song, crank it up to expert and you're essentially memorizing the entire song in response to sound &visuals, vs feel and sound

It's like memorizing the a bunch of countries constitutions vs just writing one off the top of your head

You eventually get good at bullshitting, you can't bullshit lightning fast memorization with flash chords nigga
