Looting the corner stores that provide for them and there family when most stores moved out of the neighborhood. Burning churches now. It's ridiculous. What these people are doing is beyond that. Especially on the day of dudes funeral when HIS FAMILY asked for no protesting or at the very least peaceful protesting. Although some stuff in Metts' post could be called into question (the poverty in West Baltimore being the fault of black people; that's a whole socio-economic issue that's too deep to even discuss here, really. I've watched The Wire, though, so I'm pretty much an expert on the black ghettos of Baltimore) and the language a bit coarse, his general point should be well taken. Ruining community businesses has absolutely nothing to do with the debate over the man's death. If anything it cheapens it and makes any serious discussion or protest easier to dismiss. The people looting stores are wrong. I can understand (well, maybe I can't since I'm white but whatever) being angry about supposed oppression and all that, and maybe that shows itself in different ways for different people but I just don't see the point, at all.

I'd love to hear about the person's to blame for West Baltimore being the way it is today. That garbage didn't happen in a day. It took decades of crime, drugs, murders to make it like that. The area is 95% blacks. The worse it got the less opportunities they had to get jobs because they forced businesses out. They made it a war zone for white people. Black people had the opportunity to make that place whatever they wanted it to be and chose to go after the quick buck by any means necessary. Black on black crime. Drug trafficking. Robbery. Filth. The white man's fault I guess. We are the devil. Crazy how white neighborhoods even in low income baltimore areas stay civil and have a sense of community. How do us devils do it? Crazy witchcraft white people shit I guess.

When West Baltimore was 95% white it was gorgeous and heartbeat of the city. Now we go 10 blocks out of our way to avoid that butthole of a community.

but for this case specifically, freddie grey was a drug dealer with upwards of 18 arrests. even if he was doing nothing wrong, he was still in a drug zone and the cops wanted to talk to him and he ran.

if he wasn't a drug dealer, and if he didn't run. he isn't killed in police custody

thats not excusing the police but the rioters and people need to understand that "freddie gray" isn't "everybody". unless "everybody" are crack dealing repeat offending criminals who run from police.

now then you can get into the talks about the society and economic conditions of his neighborhood, schools, etc, which lead these young men into making the decisions to basically become criminals, but i'm lazy and tired and you know already.
