HDTV's & HDTV accessories
ayo im bout to cancel my cable hookup and buy a tv + streaming device
I stare at the ones in the back of walmart a lot what I assume is vizio lg and Samsung are the best bang for your buck but I don't know ANYTHING also I was thinkin about gettin a ROKU cuz they're cheap and shit & I'm on my 7th free trial for netflix. but I don't know anything about apple tv or amazon tv or whatever the fuck else there is what do you have / recommend I'm lookin in the 30-40" range |
Do you own a laptop with an hdmi output?
|
^^^ tv problem solved lol.
chrome cast is the best way to go. huluplus and netflix is all you need |
yeah but the tv don't
yet is it basically pointless once I get a flat screen tho? |
what's good about chromecast that roku can't do. I got me some hulu plus as well
|
XBMC. For the last time people! XBMC!!
|
Ignore the others
there is 0 point in any of the streaming devices if you have a laptop and want a slim budget if you like using it while watching things buy one with a broken screen on ebay, you won't need the screen so it works fine get a wireless mouse for 5-15 bucks and use the on screen keyboard this is a good time of year for tv's since the new models are coming up soon go to a shitty store with barely any foot traffic (sears, jc pennys, etc) that has an electronics department buy a closeout/discontinued joint has the warranty still it'll be like 200 for a 350 tv samsung or vizio is your best bet but seiki is a decent crap brand |

my laptops sound output is low as fuck, like thats how its meant to be, i have no speaker for it i bought some wire that can put up whatevers on my laptop, to the TV - but the sound still the same as if it were on the laptop (madd low) what cable i need to let the TV play sound at its normal capacity even though its being played through the laptop? i'm too G to be up on that geeksquad tip |

Split you're nobody
He's trying to save money and that's the best option in his situation for maximum enjoyment You're pretty fucking stupid tbc |

|

you can buy them shits on craigslist for pennys
you can use it with a tv as the screen and not have to use your actual laptop @Strikta has to have a friend or 5 that does this |
Using your mouse/ keyboard to navigate Netflix, Hulu, shady torrents and streamed shit on your TV while either uncomfortably far away on the couch or kneeling at your TV stand, while dealing with the myriad problems that come with a broken 2011 laptop & a Windows operating system will have you wishing you sprung for a $40 Roku in no time

Car suggestion: buy a burnt husk of a Ford Taurus as a salvage title and have your trained ducks pull it like a rickshaw
|
He said he is on his 7th trial of Netflix so I'm assuming he isn't willing to pay for any streaming service
Therefore pirating on a laptop would give the most satisfaction |
Unless roku has free services? I'm under the assumption it's just a Netflix and Hulu streaming device

Not to mention some ISPs will throttle your web service if they suspect torrenting |
All I'm saying is that trying to save money on luxuries for your leisure time is like counting calories only during cookie dough binges

I stream and torrent more than anyone I know for yearss and still haven't been throttled once And too your next post you are exaggerating things to an extreme level |

as someone that has been torrenting things and living off of significant other's netflixes and hulus for years: fuck yourself. heartily if you can even barely afford to do anything else it is highly recommended |

someone online said you have to go into laptops settings>sound> change it so the output comes from the TV/HDMI? i hadnt done that, admittedly, might be why the sound was coming from the laptop rather than the TV if it still doesnt fix it, i'll take pics of what i got and post 'em |

There are so many dope shows and movies not on there, you can't live off of peasant scraps for entertainment all the time meng |
well listen I have Netflix and I have hulu and I have my other sites that stream any show I want and I know how to use torrents and I have a laptop with a working screen
I just want to get rid of my box tv and my cable and get a flatscreen and like dawg said I don't want to be up next to my flatscreen with my laptop everytime I want to watch something new and I see chromecast is only 35$ compared to roku 2 at 60 or 3 at 90 if they're virtually the same thing then I might chromecast it I might check out sears/jcpenny for a discontinued tv as long as that shit looks pretty SOLID |

my old laptop screen got fucked so i bought a new one use the old one for the TV. keep it hidden behind the tv stand and use a wireless mouse and it has an on screen keyboard which you can use as easily/more easily than a remote but the chromecast looks dope for that stuff not 100% you can go on streaming sites. I know you can surf the net but not sure what capabilities it has for flash/java/etc |
also it's 2015
all tv's are nice tbc even the shit ones i stay with samsung because i use them for phone/computer/tablet and the screen mirroring and shit are dope but otherwise yeah a vizio is all samsung parts as are seiki and all the other off brands |
XBMC. hook up computer or phone with it to your tv. Enjoy.
