Diode to thread...

For you gun enthusiast; what's some good rifles & pistols to purchase?

Just got my full carriers.

Ordered a ruger p345. 1st pistol.

Need some opinions on other good pistols.

Need some opinions on some rifles as well.

Saw a nice 308 that looked like an m16. Interested, should I be?

@Diode - I know you know you shit when it comes to firearms my man.

Holla.

veritas 02-19-2015 07:42 AM

tbh you should have asked Batty or Myself.

Glossy Finish Dick Lips 02-19-2015 07:48 AM

Hardly ever see either of you engage in firearms threads but, ok.

What are your thoughts, bro?

Ruger p345 a good pistol for 1st one?

And 308 a good rifle? Hear a lot of people tel me it's a very common caliber rifle, and a good one.

veritas 02-19-2015 08:08 AM

Why are you getting a gun?

Glossy Finish Dick Lips 02-19-2015 08:49 AM

To go shooting.

A hobby.

veritas 02-19-2015 09:27 AM

is that you in your picture?

Glossy Finish Dick Lips 02-19-2015 09:30 AM

Lol, who else would it be?

But to answer your question, yes. It is me.

veritas 02-19-2015 10:06 AM

Idk, maybe a rapper or a football guy. You look pretty tough, I guess you aren't considering a weapon for protection right?

Glossy Finish Dick Lips 02-19-2015 10:12 AM

No.

Lol @ look tough tho.

Just a hobby bro. Something to do other then the norm, feel me?

veritas 02-19-2015 10:35 AM

WELL...

I recommend going to a local gun store/armory with its own shooting range and testing out the various calibers.

I think a guy like you could handle a 45. but you could always start with a 9mm. Try the longer barrels 5 or 6 inches to get a good feel for it.

as for rifles, go with an ak or an ar-15. invest in a local gun range/shooting range before buying. try before you buy.

did this help?

Diode 02-19-2015 10:37 AM

depends on what you are looking for. you can't just say "what pistol should i get?" or "what rifle should i get?"

despite veritas leading you into some dumb racist shit his initial post had a purpose.. the goal is important.

are you looking for a carry pistol (highly unlikely given you're in nyc)? are you looking for a range pistol, and if so, do you prefer revolvers, striker fired, etc? what kind of grip and stance are you most comfortable with? what types of magazine restrictions are you under in ny? do you prefer an extended grip? does the look of the weapon matter to you? do you like goodies like crimson trace/lasermax/etc? what caliber ammo is readily available and affordable in your area?

rifles get even more complicated.

Glossy Finish Dick Lips 02-19-2015 10:38 AM

Lol some what.

AR-15's are dope. My boy just got one. Pretty slick gun.

9mm are cool. I personally would like to purchase a Glock-18, next.

Give me a few to answer these questions, lol. I shall return.

Batty 02-19-2015 12:06 PM

Best advice is to get something you feel comfortable with.

I'm a beast, I can shoot anything. I enjoy shooting double-barrel 12 gauges and muskets and shit. Only thing I don't like shooting are little guns with small grips.

Gotta get something you're comfortable with as your main piece tho. If you got big hands like I do, you will want a big enough grip or something that allows for sturdy dependable grip extenders. Some guns look badass and then they feel and shoot like dickturds.

My personal favs are 45 w/ crim trace, CZ83, 12 gauge and AK-47.

I enjoy them for accuracy, dependability and how fun they are to shoot.

veritas 02-19-2015 12:22 PM

Dumb racist shit? Wot?

I recommend a 45. A conceal able 9 an ar15 a 30 06 and a 12 guage. That willwill cover all angles.

CWP is impossible in NY.

why get a 30 aught if he isn't hunting?

Glossy Finish Dick Lips 02-19-2015 12:44 PM

I live in NY but also have a house in PA near a range. Mostly want to range but may adventure out in to hunting. That's why I mentioned the 308 that looks like a m16. I wouldn't bother dabbing in to firearms here in the city because it's nearly impossible with all these restrictions.

Glossy Finish Dick Lips 02-19-2015 12:54 PM

From what I've been told, AK-47's aren't accurate at all unless you are single burst firing. Recoil sucks. I also saw an AK-74u, the sub machine gun in some mom & pops firearms store out in the bumble fuck woods of PA for sale for only $750.00. I was slightly interested, not going to lie but then again, my knowledge on guns is limited, so wasn't trying to have the old dude talk me in to buying it.

I'm hyped, tho. Collecting guns is fun already. Can't wait to start hitting the range up.

Diode 02-19-2015 01:18 PM

you can build an AR for less than $700 buying uppers and lowers separately off the internet.

however, unless your primary residence DL is for PA, i don't think you'll have much success without a fed exemption in NY

Who you hear all that from tho? Lol

I got 2 AKs, they are deadly accurate and recoil is smooth as an infant skin smoothie. Plus I got a scope on one lol

You can bury an AK in a mountain of mud and period panties and it'll still shoot like a champ, get a dustbunny in an AR-15 and it will jam up.

Dependability is more important than you think.

I have a federal badge, from my employer. But you're right, my primary residence is NY. However, can easily switch it to my PA home. Just don't feel like dealing with all my mail going all the way out there lolol. Shit would fill the inbox cause I'm not there often. Every other weekend give or take and a week or 2 out of the summer.

Glossy Finish Dick Lips 02-19-2015 02:09 PM

I saw a slide fire YouTube video with an AR. Shit was dope.

veritas 02-19-2015 02:19 PM

the AR-15 is historically more accurate, the AK is historically more dependable.

personal preference bros. I only use knives so it doesn't really matter to me.

Batty 02-19-2015 02:32 PM

Here's a decent quick read:

http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/201...ust-get-along/

Of course, if you plan on doing some long range shooting, you're not going to want either of these. Nothing wrong with a good hunting rifle, just in case.

Dope girl 02-19-2015 02:35 PM

Look up gun license place in your state and righ it down

Amen u sexy

Dope girl 02-19-2015 02:54 PM

Depends on where ya live over 140

veritas 02-19-2015 03:04 PM

tbh I should have went with the AK. I got my AR back during my "naming guns" phase. I can admit that.

Glossy Finish Dick Lips 02-19-2015 05:32 PM

Lol @ silver. Stop, please.

Let me catch up on some posts here. Slackin' on my mackin real quick. BRB.

Don't get me wrong, AK's are dope. I; personally do not like them. Plus, a lot of people have told me the recoil on them is horrible if you aren't single firing burst. And I think I read some gun reviews on it that said the same shit. So turned me away from it.

AR-15 is dope, like @Diode said, a lot of shit you can do to it to even make it better but not here in NY cause of the laws. Them shits would prevent me from doing anything to it out of a stock ordinary AR.

However, I do really like the 308 I keep referencing. I can even use it for hunting, if I wanted too. Which I may look in to doing this year.

Your power has grown exponentially since those days. Dad is way proud.

@Amen if you want to purchase a slide fire for AR, be ready to pay between $300-$400 for it.

AK is the shit, it gets a lot of hate because it is most commonly associated with "bad guys" while Army guys love AR. Probably most of what you're hearing is from AR guys. A buddy of mine has an AR, last time we went shooting, he wanted to shoot my AK the whole time because it was so fun to shoot. I've never had any issues with it, plus I'm building another.

Soooo nothing on the 308? This is the one I want to purchase, minus the scope, tho.

Glossy Finish Dick Lips 02-19-2015 07:32 PM

This is my 1st hand gun purchase.

https://sp.yimg.com/ib/th?id=HN.6080...0&pid=15.1&P=0

Looking at possibly getting a GLOCK-18 next. Or a regular glock, 9mm.

Strikta 02-19-2015 10:45 PM

AK > any other rifle

Plain & simple.

Greed 02-19-2015 11:23 PM

9 was my first. Had a 45 but got rid of it last year. Looking at a 357 now tho.

Glossy Finish Dick Lips 02-20-2015 05:42 AM

I'm not a fan of 357. Especially revolvers. Even tho they're good guns, I just personally don't like them for cosmetic reasons.

uh-oh 02-20-2015 05:57 AM

be a man. get a revolver.

but yo you can get a concealed carry in NYC. i dont know what diodes talking about. you have to have a valid reason for having it and jump through hoops to get the permit or whatever but it is possible.

but yea i don't like any handguns that ain't revolvers

probably biased cuz all the guns i shot that weren't revolvers were cheap pieces of shit but they all jammed and misfired throughout the course of shooting them. but i only shot 22's 380's 40 cal and a 9 mm. i know 45's are kind of boss tho so they probably have them down

i think a problem with jamming is the lower caliber pistols dont have enough UMPH to pop the shell out and loud the next one in so a 45 might not have that problem, and the 40 cal that was misfiring i shot was likely because the bullets were cheap shitty reloads

but still. revolvers are ill i don't understand the cosmetic thing i think they look dope

rifle wise i have no idea. theres no point in geting an assault rifle styled gun because you are paying for looks. fully auto is illegal im pretty sure, so you might as well just get a semi auto rifle thats made to be semi auto

ak's are known as the best assault rifle on earth. if america wasn't gay we would use them in our military fasho, tweaking them obviously but we're america and gotta use poorly made american garbage
