28 hours since my last cigarette

i feel the periodic cravings they're talking about, and went through my first sleepless night they say is a withdrawal symptom.

they say that the withdrawal peaks within the first 3 days. so, i figure, what's a few uncomfortable days to get off of something i never really enjoyed? any quitters got advice besides staying busy?

Clayray 01-02-2015 06:04 PM

Fig 01-02-2015 06:05 PM

It helped to think that every cravings I got was more of a mental battle than a physical one making the issue not real and thinking of it as a hallucination of the mind I shouldn't listen to since it was ''fake'', which in a way it is. Thus making it easier to stay away from it. Just like with everything else those cravings will come later on as well, just not as hard and as frequent as the first 3 days, then the next 2-3 weeks and so on and so on, they'll still be there from time to time but basically non-existent after a while.

Another tip that helps for some; figure out what to do with your hands if/when you're stressed. Exchange the habit of reaching down in your pocket for that packet of cigs with something else like twinning your thumbs or some shit, or exchange the habit with chewing gum like I did for some time. Then you can still have the reach down in your pocket and take something in your mouth habit that you've trained your brain to get used to with something that'll only give you fresh breath in the long run.

Clayray 01-02-2015 07:32 PM

@Bags - why do you have a personal vendetta against muff. have you met him in real life or have these feelings developed over the forum and manifested it's way into your real life? if so you have to be stronger letting emotions dictate your post is not a good thing

Ghost1 01-02-2015 07:33 PM

Bodey 01-03-2015 02:29 AM

@Phil good for you! The only time I ever really "relapse" on a cig is if I'm incredibly drunk and it actually appeals (most of the time it doesn't and even while drinking is easy to pass up these days) But I haven't bought cigs for almost a year. I can say that every time I've quit completely, within a few weeks I get a cough that develops into a cold or some bronchial shit. Either it's coincidental or the shit in your lungs breaking up and coming out can lead to this or a little of both, I'm not sure

I only smk weed now. I commend you for stopping, it's a psychological bitch

Badweather 01-03-2015 06:25 AM

i think the psychological part of it will be the easiest part for me to deal with. simply because my mind is made up on the issue. I'M DONE with smoking cigarettes.

what i'm not looking forward to is the insomnia and possible constipation. that shit's gonna be pretty wack. 'cause i've been crushing greasy ass chinese food like it was my part-time job

:(

i'll be at 48 hours @ 2:30 pm

Bodey 01-03-2015 07:40 AM

That's weird cuz I'll be at 24 hours at 2:30pm. Let's meet there

In all seriousness though, I don't remember the physical as much, such as insomnia for instance, cuz as you can see I have struggled going to bed since I was 8. If I don't use it all the time, 2-3 melatonins make you pretty sleepy, especially if you stick headphones in and YouTube videos of hypnosis to set a relaxing mood. Those are the only things I eer did where I actually fell asleep. And since I allowed an 8hr window of sleep before taking em, I didn't wake up groggy

Take em a 2nd night in a row and nothing happens.

There's also relaxing teas out there. I know I'm telling you shit you don't already know, but I have about an hr to sleep before I have to be up for work. And my cat keeps attacking the Christmas tree in the kitchen and then takin her claws to our couch cover. It'll randomly sound like someone's tryin to sneak around but keeps knocking shit over cuz they're a stupid fucking idiot

Man this is probably 1 of the best decisions you'll ever make in your life. If you quit, stay quit!

I quit about 6 years ago along with drinking and doing drugs and I can tell you I've had 1 heck of a ride through out it all!

First off, keep yourself busy. Just do stuff with friends but avoid unhealthy people or situations like bars and smoking pits. Go watch a movie with a friend, eat something healthy or chew some gum. Not nicorette either. Just reg gum!

Drink water!!! Cut out any soft drinks, sugary stuff and as much caffeine as possible. I mean, have your morning coffee but limit yourself to 2 cups a day! Try drinking some tea, it will cut down some of the stimulants that get your blood flowing and make you crave a cigarette. But water flushes the system bro. It detoxifies you and helps your body get back to normal functioning.

Lastly, try to incorporate as little stress as you can into your life. I'll tell you right now, stress is one of the biggest factors to why people smoke. If you can take up something like running or working out to release tension (not just porn and masturbation either) you'll feel 100x better and you'll get to a point where you realize that you enjoy feeling this way so much that smoking would only block you off from this natural high your getting.

I know these sound extreme and probably over the top, but it's only little tweaks in your everyday life. If you really think about it, you have more time in your day than you realize. Mad these things can be incorporated easier than you think. Plus, you don't have to do it all at once. Just take what you can and leave the rest. It'll all come full circle as you continue.

But most importantly, just QUIT! Don't do it by cutting down, patches and nicotine gum. Just stop and get the fuck out netcees. Enjoy your life. I rarely get on here and post but when I see something like this, I make an effort to say something to peeps who wanna better themselves.

Inno 01-03-2015 11:17 AM

you diving to deep into this.

just dont smoke. beleive its easy to just stop. its all mental.
you seem like a sound individual. should be easy for you.

the positive thing is u chose to stop. ..always a good sign. instead of
quitting for other reasons.goodluck.

Badweather 01-03-2015 11:43 AM

Word, I've been staying busy. I haven't had much sleep in the past 2 days, but my energy levels are much higher than usual. I cleaned and rearranged my room, been chatting with that black girl I met from the Internet. I'm feeling pretty good. But yeah idle hands do the devil's work.

Destroyer 01-03-2015 11:44 AM

If symptoms peak within the first 3 days, then this is nothing.

dead man 01-03-2015 01:24 PM

word man good luck.

biggest problem for me was subsequent stress. when i get pissed off or upset my instincts tell me to find the nearest cigarette and light that shit with the quickness. lizard brain kicks and nicotine is all i want.

you sound pretty confident and mentally prepared so you should be alright.

Witty 01-03-2015 04:15 PM

Terrible decision.

Smoking is awesome.

Wise Wiggles 01-03-2015 04:41 PM

I don't care, have some respect and call them what they are supposed to be called.

They make my life livable and I will not have them addressed by anything other than their official title.

Wise Wiggles 01-03-2015 05:44 PM

This is why they are for degenerates.
