i think rogan and franco fell off with this one. not planning on seeing it so i don't really care that it got cancelled, but it is interesting how seriously people can take what is clearly a satirical attempt at humor. they're just documenting what everybody is saying anyway, only under the limelight on a national scale.

i want to say NK (and sony) should lighten up. but the movie is so ridiculous and such blatant, tasteless controversy-mongering that i can't really bring myself to defend it.

nobody thinks they're in the same psychological state as the western world.

however, there are a huge amount of defects every year. some successful, a vast percentage not so lucky. and they suffer greatly if they're not murdered on sight. not sure what their penal code is like.

despite the "brainwashing" and godlike idolatry that (forcefully) exists in NK there are people who grasp how terrifying their situation is. i think if anything, you're underestimating a population of humans who are still intelligent, autonomous, self-interested beings at their core. not everyone is so susceptible.

Frontline did a very good documentary on life in NK awhile back. Best one I've seen. It showed smugglers bringing in banned DVDs, phones, iPods, etc. and most importantly it showed people openly disrespecting Kim Jung Un. Hell, there was even a woman on there cussing out the police. So, the administration isn't as in control as they make it seem to the outside world.

But to the OP, I wanted to see it but I think I'll live if I don't.
