St. Vincent's self-titled album is the only one even close to classic status for me.

Wise Wiggles 12-09-2014 11:20 AM

Thriftworks just dropped 3 albums with over 100 dope tracks, last month alone. Faded, Fader & Fadest..

I never really got into her style. You think this is her best album?

Does anyone know if Beck's new album is actually worth the hype it's getting? Haven't listened to him in awhile.

If you like Sea Change, it's a lesser reiteration. But I enjoy it.

"Landmines" remains my favorite song by her, but I think it was important for her to explore musically. David Byrne seems to have brought that out in her, and it makes her newer stuff more interesting and unpredictable. But yeah, she will one day do an all-acoustic, woman-and-guitar album that will be great, a la Fiona Apple's latest.

Orc 12-10-2014 12:56 PM

I loved Hozier's album, plus he's Irish. Ed Sheeran's album and Ben Howard's. As for rap, The Waters was dope and so was Chance's shit, if that was 2014.

but this is pretty cool right now outside of the 10 minute long tunes haha

^that was dope, thanks for the link. Idk why I just don't dig most rap that has the same beat and just a spoken hook. I think that's why Run the Jewels was so dope for me - every section seemed to be defined with a different chord progression or something that wasn't just a slight texture change

I'm seeing Mehldau's trio friday night too, fucking pumped

My favorite album of the year is Tycho - Awake. I know it ain't rap or anything like that, but damn, probably the only album that's been able to calm my energy levels down a bit in 2014.

Full album if anyone's interested in checking it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qEI1_oGPQr0
