I just appreciate that he takes risks. Although I think he's well aware of what he's doing, as in he takes risks to take risks to improve his perception among the people who assess and review the zeitgest. Regardless, I enjoy the album on it's own merits. Like Bags said, it is very dark. I listen to it as a purely emotional album, not for lyrics. The production values are some of the best of the year. He has a specific aim on each track and he achieves them. So many different sounds and textures. And although it is a very dark album there are moments of really beautiful sonic ideas (the interlude in the first track, Bound 2, etc.). The primal screams seem genuine. There's a running idea that this is the release of all of Kanye's inner demons concerning his previous life vs. his future as a father. That he's going overboard as a subconscious reply to his insecurities. He's a legitimate artist and this is up there with his 'normal' records. Like the evil twin to 808's, but of a higher level or art in my opinion. It's unto itself, almost without classification.

Mostly I just like how it sounds, though.
