what do you think is the single most important cause for humankind to unite over?

like, if you could choose one thing that all people across the planet would rally together to address, and it would magically happen no matter what, what would that cause be?

SiK 03-12-2014 12:10 AM

Alien attack....People never rally together more or become more united then when under attack or at a time of war

Vulgar 03-12-2014 12:13 AM

If we all had to work together to preserve the element of oxygen. To breathe or not to breathe?

Masaii 03-12-2014 12:16 AM

At first I thought this sounded good....then I started to think how other countries would only work for themselves because who gives a fuck about the next guy(country). It has to be something that the entire world would be FORCED to work together on....Which is why I said an alien attack

Are you familiar with the planetary boundaries?

Certain 03-12-2014 12:32 AM

this thread reeks of "their" programming.

I will have none of it.

oats 03-12-2014 01:05 AM

@Certain are you saying that I am the single most important cause for humanity to unite over? I know I've been helping with the mags here and there, but you don't need to overdo it.
@Vulgar some, yes. The full list includes land use, biodiversity loss, atmospheric aerosols, chemical pollution, climate change, ocean acidification, ozone depletion, nitrogen cycle, phosphorous cycle, and fresh water use. it was developed and quantified by a coalition of scientists in Stockholm, who set limits for each of those as the "planetary boundaries" for stable living conditions on Earth.

no, the title asks what do YOU think. it's a reflection of your values. I'd like to hear your thoughts on this.

Certain 03-12-2014 01:06 AM

@oats over freedom.

oats 03-12-2014 01:08 AM

I don't get it :-/

you high bro?

Certain 03-12-2014 01:09 AM

@oats, you're embarrassing me and yourself.

oats 03-12-2014 01:13 AM

are you talking about my prepositional use? that not only did I end in a preposition (shocking to most speakers of Queen's English), but that I should have used the word "around" instead of "over?"

Inno 03-12-2014 01:17 AM

I think an epidemic of cataclysmic proportion should do it.

Like super aids or some shit.

Hush, little oatsy, don't say a word.

oats 03-12-2014 01:19 AM

the question is not what do you think would cause humanity to unite.

the question is what would you like to see humanity unite over? if you could magically make it happen
