Explain to me what's going on. Are we going to war again?

Witty 09-02-2013 04:11 PM

Obama is waiting for approval from congress I think?

Fart 09-02-2013 04:14 PM

obama is hitler

TYSON 09-02-2013 04:15 PM

What for?

Witty 09-02-2013 04:19 PM

Because he doesn't want the backlash that Bush got I guess.

Even though the situation is very different.

this is basically how the US is

if you're asking about syria, its been growing into a civil war since the arab spring and recently their government used chemical weapons on a few hundred civilians, which are outlawed by the geneva convention. BUT, Russia is a huge ally of Syria (the two trade Russia's last military base outside of the former soviet union is in Syria), so they're basically doing all they can to stop the UN from taking any sort of action against the Assad regime. Obama is asking for permission to attack Syria, which would be going around the UN. Any upcoming debates you'll be seeing soon will probably be about that

Fart 09-02-2013 05:45 PM

off topic. i hate that the US worries more about sand niggs than it's own problems

Rawn M.D. 09-02-2013 05:45 PM

we r going

weve been backin into a corner

but same thing will happen that happened in late 80s with Al Queda/Mojardeme (sp)

what are our own problems?

Sharp 09-02-2013 05:52 PM

close, but not really like the Mujahideen fighting the soviet union

we assisted rebels who were fighting an unpopular communist government, who called in soviet troops for assistance. Fighting a war on your own country vs in foreign territory is a huge difference. this is a straight civil war, where russia is diplomatic ally but not military

I'd be amazed if russia got any more involved than that after the Afghan-soviet war

What problems does America have that even comes close to chemical attacks on children?

Doubt it.

I think Putin is a crazy fuck who should not have any sort of power, but I don't think he is stupid.

I dunno about China tho, they scare the fuck out of me....they are a huugggge superpower, just hiding in the shadows.

I'm not so sure on the outcome. It's got so many more moving pieces and possible situations than Afghanistan did, especially now. And the actual rebels are more interested in liberty than religion, while Mujahideen is literally jihadist. Similar on the surface, maybe.

diplomatically, probably. It's basically just them wanting to protect economic and political interests. Especially after the soviet occupation of afghanistan i doubt they'd be willing to send military there. The biggest conflict between major nations will be political.

God Of War 09-02-2013 06:00 PM

FUCK NO

he said "naw we made a classic and its somethng we cant create so i wont be in anothe rone" like a faggot

shit ruined my day

Rawn M.D. 09-02-2013 06:04 PM

that is fucked! @God Of War i thought he agreed, i was hype!!!

and there is a lot more implications than b4 bc of allies on the syria issue

but we r going, cant not at this point imo

TYSON 09-02-2013 06:10 PM

Yea pretty fucked up what they did to them . @Witty i think Artemis is saying why are we always the captain save a hoe. I rarely hear anyone else going to aid foreign countries. The thing is we seem to have to save someone every two months.
