That's what I asked a couple days ago

It would be nice if this info was posted somewhere...ANYWHERE

Certain 08-04-2013 01:36 PM

One thing I never quite understood was why every league runs on midnight deadlines. Make the deadlines like 7 p.m. or whenever the moderators know they will be on a computer. Then you can make extensions just the rest of that night instead of 24 hours. And you can close threads promptly and start new ones as soon as you're done. You don't have to adjust your life schedule.

Mike Wrecka 08-04-2013 01:38 PM

Adonis its a weekly league. battles are posted every Monday. battles close 3 AM Sunday morning EST but ya im not online at that time so usually mid day sunday. im gonna close them when I get a chance in a few hours or so.

Certain 08-04-2013 01:40 PM

Should I vote to break the tie in @Boredom vs. @Objective? I can drop a quick vote if you need it.

PancakeBrah 08-04-2013 01:42 PM

Do it Certain. I would but I don't have enough time right now to write 2,000 words.

Objective 08-04-2013 01:44 PM

Wait, don't close shit up yet. Give me an hour. I gotta vote.
@Mike Wrecka. Blah. Seriously. Make voting by sunday. Fri-sat/sunday morning is drinking time.

Adonis 08-04-2013 01:45 PM

All i'm saying is when a new member signs up for the league this info should be accessible for them.

Even the members like pancake and I don't know.

That should be posted in the weekly discussion forum at the least, but really in every battle thread. (Copy paste...or contorl "c" control "v")

Just because it's the same each week don't mean we won't forget.

Might be coming off dickish, but in 13 years I never been in a league where the most crucial and basic info isn't posted weekly.

Mike Wrecka 08-04-2013 01:49 PM

I will open the tied match up back up for a few hours. vote it up guys

Objective 08-04-2013 01:56 PM

Word at what Adonis said. I don't and wont remember when shit's due. I just assume it's sunday/monday morning as that's what I'm used to. EST and times etc means nothing to me. Sunday is what I'll get out of the post as that's what my brain remembers.

Gah.

Certain 08-04-2013 01:58 PM

My vote on Objective vs. Boredom is in.

Adonis 08-04-2013 02:03 PM

word, three votes in that battle in like 2 minutes

leggo

Word, I welcome anything I can improve from. Specially in terms of grammar etc. If anyone see anything I'd love for y'all to point it out and quote whatever lines got bad grammar in them.

Also @Certain Serpent, word at everything you said in your vote. Thought it was a rather hard topic to write to, but I definitely see your points about explaining why he's pissed etc. Another story to back it up or something. I'll try to make up for it in my next verse.

Rawn M.D. 08-04-2013 02:19 PM

Good match @Certain Serpent

Certain 08-04-2013 02:33 PM

Definitely, @Rawn M.D..

Now that it's over, and I ask this as a learning experience, @Adonis and @Coup, could you explain what you meant by saying the narrator changed in my verse? It was unintentional, and I'd like to know whether my wording was too vague in certain parts. I have a tendency to underwrite, part of my profession (journalism).

Verse was as follows...

Mary, jason, Mary Jason. You mentioned the characters by name. Then the final stanza it became...

"Jason, as he helped Me"

in that final stanza you were vague, but you lead us to beleive though out the verse you were speaking in narrative, then out of no where you threw in first person I.e me and my black hat. You never said out right you became Mary, but in 5 stanza's you used one tense, then in 1 stanza a completely different tense

Certain 08-04-2013 02:43 PM

@Adonis, there were three characters in the verse: Mary, Jason and the narrator, who was the Mennonite on rumspringa. I used first person throughout every section. In that final one, Jason helped the narrator leave Philadelphia and go back to Mary and the Mennonite community.

I'll work on being clearer, though. Thanks for the feedback.

Adonis 08-04-2013 02:53 PM

word....then I missed that

Boredom 08-04-2013 05:03 PM

voting should def be open til sunday tbh.. aint nobody got time for that shit on friday/saturday

Mike Wrecka 08-04-2013 06:00 PM

i want to give Zygote time to write the mag. he needs to know the winners of the week in order to recap what happened each week. this league is different, its mag driven. usually in other leagues match ups are made, battle threads are made and then you get a mag a few days later if your lucky.

in this league the mag is everything. the week cant start without it. remember zygote is in Australia and he is probably writing these damn mags late enough. i want to give him a full day to write it and get it ready.

voting will be closed Sunday 9 AM EST. no more exceptions. if that doesn't work for you then this is not the league for you, im sorry please sign out promptly.

@Adonis the due dates for battles are posting in the battle thread. look closer. how did you miss that

Adonis 08-04-2013 06:21 PM

I meant the voting deadline.

Sorry to be a bother, and I'm partly being devils advocate. Just putting shit out there for consideration and what not. Def have both due dates in threads though.

Rawn M.D. 08-04-2013 06:53 PM

I ain't no zygote was Australian tbh

that makes more sense now

Split 08-04-2013 07:19 PM

Zygote lives in Australia, yes
