I grew up saying nigga. Out here in cali (well I'm speaking mostly down south areas where I used to live, or the bay ) mexicans and blacks used it equally. In the valley (where I am now) there's a lot more white people, and so the atmosphere is a lot more uptight when it comes to racism.

I still say nigga though out in public, but I never direct it in a negative way at anybody.

My aunt lives in a fairly rich community in florida and Its more offensive if u use the word nigger in there. I used to say nigga around my cousins spanish friends and they would be like" oh man thats a very offensive word,you shoudn't say" and like i'm shut the fuck nigga please

think I've told this story before. One of my bestfriends is white. Grew up in Chicago with all the GD's in the projects and was affiliated. The dude has mutual extended family with me thats pretty strong in the streets, fuck some fine ass sistas, a G in every shape of the word, and knows he has the "pass". I've known dude for like 15 years and not once has he ever even uttered the word and knows on the strength of who he is that he can and wouldn't have a problem with anyone, but he doesn't. I respect that man more than any other white person who says it on the net but doesn't say it in real life because they know what is or just says it around there white friends and or whatever. real talk

In San Antonio, i hear it coming from mostly Mexicans, TBH. East side SA community of black people seems ok with it.
