I grew up in parts of miami and south Fl. The way i look at it is. Everyone will be treated like a criminal rich or poor. Rather then blaming the system, we should all uproot ourselves to safer communities. kevin hart once said"theres two types of malls the one white ppl shop at and the ones they used to shop at". that's harsh. Not that drastic of a change but moving to safer neighborhoods. I was taught never to talk back to police officers because the law bends for them. And i myself have been a victim of there cruel jokes. We should be learning from this experiance and teaching our children of the future how to respond in these situations. Teachers, parents and the community should approach this social issue differently.

What really pisses me off is politicians are going to spin this for gun control. Then the only ppl with guns might be corrupt cops (maybe not in this case,) We as society are playing into the hands of hidden agendas through social media.

it showed him menacing people with what looked like a real gun (from 40 feet away where the surveillance camera is, but i've had bb guns that looked real too) but word he was following people pointing it at them and shit.

and the police chief or whoever was saying they rolled up told him to put his hands up 3 times and shot him when he went for his waist

OK let's say that's all true. He was still only 12 with a bb gun and shoot down by an officer who is trained to defuse a situation with out lethal force. My problem is the misconception of the word trained. The 12 year old got killed for a bb gun so no matter the situation a 12 year old life is over at the hands of a cop. So yes it was a fuck up.

yea that was fucked, i was going by what was on the news, they got the surveillance of him terrorising people, and 911 calls, and everything leading up to but they dont show the actual shooting. in a 911 call the dude said the gun might be fake he doesnt know, but he was scaring the shit out of people

the cops were told a man had a gun and was pointing it at people, and his description obviously. no one knew his age till after the fact. its plain to see he's a young dude tho.

but that was very quick, alot worse than what i was hearing on the radio at work, and what the news was playing on tv when i got home

i don't know how they were supposed to handle that situation

they pulled right up on him which was weird to me, but i dont know police training.

if they pulled up along the street they couldve got a defensible position and tried defusing it in a relatively safe matter, but the whole shit was them on the offensive, how they rolled up on him, and it seems like he was falling before the cop was even all the way out of the door

granted he was a fucking idiot for brandishing a gun and menacing random people with it, but that was too quick in my opinion, way to quick. i mean i dont have the officers vantage point from inside the car, maybe he could see the gun sticking out of his waistband and freaked out, he was a rookie officer i guess. not trying to say he was justified in shooting him that quick, but just that he is human as well, and i am just someone looking at stuff after the fact

but honestly this kids parents, or caretakers, or whoever were responsible for him should receive extreme punishment. they are the main reason for their childs death.

Me and my friend took two of our friends hostage with bb guns and balaclavas when we were kids and the police were called by a neighbour, didn't get killed tho.

The human part is why there should be accountability for their actions. If a kid got killed by a civilian because he thought he had a gun but was a bb gun would he not be charged. That badge and a gun should not excuse that if anything they should be put to a higher standard.

i hear you, but they are not civilians. if he pointed his gun at me, and i turned around and shot him, i could EASILY, EASILY, get off. as long as its on tape of course like this was.

a cop on duty is not a civilian, he is there to protect, and serve, civilians. civilians were being threatened, they called the police to serve up protection from someone pointing a deadly weapon at them.

my only beef is with how quickly it all went down, again, i don't know police training, maybe they have to get right up on people so if they run or something, they got right on him, the kid was walking towards them, and dude gunned him.

my only problem with how quick it happened is, if they did yell a command, enough time didnt go by for him to register what was being said

even if the windows were down as they were pulling up and they were yelling put your hands up, in that second and a half I wouldve been like "uhh.. huh"

shit takes a second to process when someones yelling at you. this happened to fast and is a tragedy

i'm not saying this cop should walk, but he shouldnt get murder or see prison. thats my opinion tho. just based on the fact they were going into a situation where an individual has a deadly weapon and is menacing people with it

i wouldnt have a problem with him losing his badge
