I think Encore is far from his worst album
last two...yeah |
glad someone said UGK
havent listened to an Em album in full since the eminem show, he shouldve stopped then and kept producing/acting. i feel the only nas album that was actually bad was Life Is Good. Just cant get down with it. Even nastradamus has some good jams with mobb deep. i still bump 'come get me' all the time. canibus was always good Blackalicious comes to mind |
Canibus has 12 studio albums, and almost no one can name more than six for a reason.
|
i can't name even one

rip the jacker is in my top 5 all time mic club is top 10 maybe, lyrical law top 20 if i really think. i dont keep lists sorry. other than that, his voice hardy rides a beat and can be annoying at times. i appreciate his dedication at times towards lyricism rather than the overall track itself. thats prolly how i would approach the mic and most would hate it prolly. poet laureate II is def in my top 5 jams of all time |

I think Encore is a bad album, his next worse being Recovery, but I wouldn't call that a "bad" album even though I can't stand to listen to it personally. MMLP2 is solid, and Relapse is dope. None of them are as good as his first 3. Infinite barely registers, only good in hindsight, like going "awww" over celebrity baby pictures. point being, Em is top 5 GOAT imo, but he def has not had a flawless career. |
Wait...Em in the top 5 GOAT?
how compute oatmeal? |
his lyrical ability, the extent that he penetrated pop culture, among other things. When I think of "greatest" it is a mix of technical ability, critical acclaim, longevity, influence, and popularity with fans. Em's got all of those.

An I been meaning to re run thru PTSD to respond back to u informed.....all I remember tho is I hated the futuristic Sci fi concept bullshit he was doing. |
The thing is that Pharoahe Monch and Royce da 5'9" are capable of making bad music sound like good rap because they're two of the most skilled ever. @oats murkel seems to be fine with that. I'm not. A lot of guys can rap. Very, very few consistently make great music.
I love Death Is Certain. Independent's Day was a huge disappointment, mostly on the production front. I feel like Pharoahe Monch has never in his entire career (even with Organized Konfusion) had producers to push him into showing his skills without excess. He sings way, way too often, and he's not good at it, and he goes more obscure than he needs to and raps over bad beats too often. |
I don't think I've ever listened to Independence Day. Is that an album proper? I was thinking Rock City, DIC, Street Hop, and SIC were his only 4 studio albums.
I like most of Pharoahe's production post Internal Affairs, which was hit or miss. Ultimately they're both skilled and dynamic enough to make the most of their beats. @bags I re listened to PTSD and still think it's dope. You should too. |
