Your whimsical whereabouts then became more abundant
simply too scared of your past to ever change with the current.
Even the plain sailing was troubling so you had to halt your career
- trading the subject of employment for those salt water tears.
Drunk with delirium that turned the most perfect of pictures
into a woman who’s weary of the very world she inhibits.
It hurts to admit it, but the rescue I’m determined to make
only serves to have driven you even further away.
It turns you against me when all I want is to hold you again
and spur you to safety because we both know where this ends.
I don’t want to let go because you’re all that I’ve got
so I’m extending my hand, knowing everything is already lost.

Between no shows and extensions I bet less than a third of all matches had verses in by the original due date, even when the league really meant something.
