Championship: Frank (4-0) vs. oats (4-0) vs. Vividlyvague (4-0) | "Don't Let Me Down"

Oats will recover from his wedding hangover just in time to fend off two exactly identical 200 line man poems.

Contender match: ZYG (3-1) vs. YDK (3-1) | "Think for Yourself"

ZYG on dat dere Gary Kasparov time. YDK yearns for the elite status. He'll have some srs problems if he doesn't do a 360* tap dance of a verse here.

Vulgar (3-1) vs. Pinot Grij (2-1) | "Run for Your Life"

My heart says Peanut Grease. My mind says Vulgar. Every one says coin toss all the time but god damn it this is one. I predict Vulgar is more abstract and Pinot is funnier. Call me crazy.

timeless (2-2) vs. Mike Wrecka (2-2) | "Getting Better"

MW is a weird person who passive aggressively insults me from time to time. This will eventually be his undoing. For now he wins.

Adonis (2-2) vs. King Ra. (2-2) | "Child of Nature"

Cool battle. I used to think Adonis sucked but his last two verses have been surprisingly good. King Ra gon' King Ra and write about Eros and Tauros fighting the sun for ultimate possession of the moon scepter.

Totoro (0-2) vs. El Pancake (1-1) | "All Things Must Pass"

YOU'RE 0-2 AGAINST ME, G. BRING YOUR A-GAME. Actually, bring your C+ game. It'll make it easier.

sacrifice (1-2) vs. Mr. J (0-2) | "Tell Me What You See"

wut @ the records for these brahs.

What's your favorite Beatles song?

obv Eleanor Rigby is obv

Not Green Day type stuff.

Like...RAWK.

Shit like Iggy Pop's Raw Power.

Dat uncut realness

Maybe Ramones-era stuff is okay. But not The Ramones.

Power punk rawk. Gutter shit.

oats 03-24-2014 10:05 PM

like Sex Pistols style then. Or The Clash. I'm no punk expert, but like most kids who skateboarded I had a distinct phase.

PancakeBrah 03-24-2014 10:09 PM

The Clash made Rock the Casbah.

lel @ punk

Maybe I'm thinking of the wrong word.

I'm thinking of like anti-establishment music. Like Black Flag shit.

More to the point,

Punk rock for lifting stupid heavy weights.

oats 03-24-2014 10:10 PM

@El Pancake try listening to GG allen. Props if you enjoy

PancakeBrah 03-24-2014 10:15 PM

Will do.

Isn't he the young man who enjoys putting shit on his face on stage and violently hurting himself and others?

RAWK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@Mike Wrecka

That seemed appropriately rawk.

Mike Wrecka 03-24-2014 10:17 PM

That seemed pretty fitting. @oats & @Frank, what's going on with that 20 line extension? I wrote 60% of my verse yesterday.

Certain 03-24-2014 10:29 PM

@El Pancake, calm down. You know I have your back, friend.

New-ish:

Savages, Silence Yourself: Critical darling, very lesbian but good, not entirely my cup of tea.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gRE9drpeZiw

The Coathangers, Suck My Shirt: Came out last week, enjoyed it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TfiBjK3K6tU

Black Lips, Good Bad Not Evil: They had a new album recently that I didn't like nearly as much as this one from a decade or so ago.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6JyPU_mgqFs

Not new but better than the Ramones:

Wire, Pink Flag: The second best punk album ever, behind London Calling.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eDEDP9BHJEU

Gang of Four, Entertainment!: Maybe the third or fourth best punk album ever.

Through our numerous PM convo's you should know I have dat dere Savages album.

Did you ever check out that Future of the Left album? It's still in rotation. Very much music.

Thx for the rec's

Certain 03-24-2014 10:37 PM

@El Pancake, I liked the Future on the Left but only listened once.

You'll like this, maybe more than anything I suggested, if you want the focus to be on anger:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Kz4x9AUn-k

That's from OFF!'s self-titled album.

oats 03-24-2014 10:39 PM

here's a few more for you, cake

oats 03-24-2014 10:40 PM

oh and vivid I'm cool with it - just keep in mind, if three of us are going 20 lines over that's equivalent to people reading 4 verses

Certain 03-24-2014 10:41 PM

I can jam to 4 Non-Blondes, though.

PancakeBrah 03-24-2014 10:43 PM

thank you for the rec's oats. going to squat to some 4 non blondes/bob dylan mash ups tomorrow.

ill reach zeus and slap him in the face

Certain 03-24-2014 10:44 PM

I would enjoy Savages with a different lead singer, preferably male. That would defeat the entire purpose of the group, though.
