I agree the cheap recording he used on all the tracks makes them sound similar. But the album has some of his best verses to date imo

bleak 03-11-2013 11:45 PM

I wanted an album so rugged, nobody could touch it.
Spend a million a track, and went over my budget.
Now how the fk am I supposed to get out of debt?
I can't rap anymore, I just murdered the alphabet.

Idk why the fuck I'm here in the first place
My worst day on earth was my first birthday.
Retarded? What did that nurse say?
Brain damage? Fuck, I was born during an earthquake.

Soldier is dope. But I never bought a kiss album. And kiss is dope, but he doesn't have album burners that make me wanna keep the shit in repeat. I need at least two or three good singles before I check for an album. And when I check for it, it better have at least sixty per cent dope off rip. Otherwise I don't bother dlin and I never pay. Three good songs don't win an album imo, so em show don't count. And when I say an artist is good, I mean consistent quality and growth and its dope when an artist life changes are somewhat in time with mine... it personalized the music and em very rarely spoke my voice. And then when he did, it sometimes seemed disingenuous, too calculated... but sometimes he seemed like my nigga from back in the day. So to recap, I recognize ems skill and like a bunch of his shit. But he is undeniably overrated. Just like big and jay and nas, fans can't scrape the love out they ears and be rational. Dummies...
Anyway, em was boosted way too hard early on and that has helped him, and then eight mile...
Look its not a bad thing, if black people had my back like that I'd be coolin

Dove Dozer 03-12-2013 09:58 AM

people can bash on eminem all they want, but Rakim and tonnes of other great emcees give him his props and admit he's dope as fuck.. nobody wants beef with eminem, he's a beast on the mic.

youtube that shit. so many haters. regardless of skin tone and who did what when, eminem has got some serious talent and the top tier dogs in hip hop regcognize it. Funny how so many unfamous nobodies hate on him. Im not one of these 18-22 year old hip hoppers either. But you gotta recognize talent when you see it.

Flow 03-12-2013 03:15 PM

I only saw the first page of this but wtf!! Eminem is a beast. Salon shadly lp Marshall mathews lp recovery were great albums. The boy has taken to say some things that take some balls tonput out there on a major label, he can literally rhyme any word, has an array of amazing multis, subliminally insults artists he collabs with, has pretty much owned everyone he had beef with, has evolved his style with his aged and paid off, is an actually talented freestyler, fuck the fact he's White, who gives a fuck?! I ain't listening to his colour!

Friends are back stabbing ass snakes with friendly grins

Oh an I'm older 22 so does that give it more credit - fuck out of here

super pimp trillionaire 03-12-2013 03:55 PM

Hey you dumb fucks, I never said he was untalented. I said he blew up because of eight mile and that blew up cause of white folks. Stop crying.

Ghost1 03-12-2013 04:03 PM

lol so u mad at 8mile, i dont think that blew him up too much.... maybe a lil bit commercially, but he was already hyped as fuck b4 it came out, thats why it was so successful.......i never actually liked it, or him more because of it, but i watched and wanted too because of how much i already liked him/how hype he was prior

super pimp trillionaire 03-12-2013 04:13 PM

the dope depressing druggy tracks kept people around. and anymore he's just all around wack

word the fuck up

i stopped being able to tolerate most of his music by age 16, by now i can only listen to features and some of the really classic shit that wasn't to corny

overall i think he is nothing great

and @odbarqweaponarm i completely agree with 8 mile tainting raps image

as i've stated before i think 8 mile is a heap of shit that should be erased from history

Badweather 03-12-2013 10:46 PM

Em blew up because he harped on his subject matter in a completely zany and unheard of way (at the time), and listeners were shocked and curious about who he was. His ability to rhyme helped in his shock factor, 'cause not only was it outlandish, but it rhymed in a way we've never heard. His race may have been only slightly relevant, considering a white dude was ripping shit up, which added to the shock factor.

Badweather 03-12-2013 10:50 PM

I remember when I first saw "hi, my name is" on mtv, I wasn't sure if it was a joke or not....but his rhyming made me research him

I'm sure everyone who heard that shit had their ears perk up and go "whaaaaat?! Haahahaa what?!" And then look in to it
