That was an upset like Brock losing to Cain was an "upset."
|
I'll be upset if Royce and ken actually fight again. Surely one of em will pull out due to injury
@quaker oats who u think won gsp vs Hendricks? Lawler vs Hendricks 1/2? Oh and btw, ur blog is terrible. |

I find it hilarious absolutely no one thought Holm had a shot until after the upset.

when I watched it live, I thought Hendricks beat GSP, but I've recently rewatched it and thought GSP took it. I think a lot of people got caught up in contender bias while they watched, including myself. I do think Gus beat Jones, though.
Lawler-Hendricks 2 was a lot closer than Hendricks-GSP imo. All depends on how you scored that 3rd round. At the time I thought Lawler got it, but I should probably rewatch it. oh and btw my blog is dope. @Useless @jilti I know what you're saying, I just don't think it's a necessary component to add to her game. but sure, it wouldn't hurt, just like an explosive double-leg wouldn't hurt, but it's not something she necessarily needs. |
I thought Lawler won the first and Hendricks won the second fight tbh
And gsp won imo. Gus def won, wasn't a robbery like hammill/bisping tho Lol @ leg kicks |

if your footwork is atrocious and head movement/ability to slip is non-existent and you don't know what a feint is you are not a boxer. even if you sort of throw punches well, which i don't think she does particularly. |
I haven't created that distinction, it's two fundamentally different skillsets. rather, two different manifestations of things like footwork and head movement. IE, slipping a punch to counter is different than slipping a punch to circle out, cutting off angles to pursue an opponent is a different type of footwork than counterpunching. almost every analyst I've read makes the distinction between offensive and defensive skillsets, and it's usually a different subset of statistics.
Ronda has power in her punches, and has some nice followup combinations behind a solid dipping jab. She's not a bad boxer in those regards. but her head is stiff on the center line, she's way too willing to eat punches in order to close distance, and she has no concept of how to stalk an opponent, which is fundamental to her game since she's a natural pressure fighter. all that to say, she's not a TERRIBLE striker, but she's obviously got a lot of work to do on fundamental skills. |
right. obviously cutting the ring is separate to backpedaling to draw a counter. thanks bro. i'm not suggesting there aren't distinctions between offence and defence, either. that was pretty patronizing. idk about stats.
i just wouldn't call someone who bull-rushes, stiff head up in the air, swarming with punches like a slightly more cultured diego sanchez a 'solid offensive boxer' because she hits the mitts a bit hard or cracked one good left hook while her opponent threw a kick. she has a decent baiting jab and throws a punch with a view to clinch quite well - solid boxing? not really. an ok puncher, at best. maybe a bit of that recent hyperbole's gotten to you or this is just a semantic thing. |
"that's a weird schism you've created with offensive and defensive boxing."
this was the statement I was responding to. Wasn't trying to be patronizing, just sounded like you were telling me there's no difference between offensive and defensive boxing. I see what you're saying now, apologies. still, I do think her offensive skills are much better than her defensive skills, and that as a purely offensive boxer, she's not bad. As a complete boxer, she's obviously pretty bad, though. |
Too bad they're not boxing
|
Y'all heard that floyd mayweather wants to be her boxing trainer? real shit
|
yea he offered his services to help her box
seeing as rousey has been the one trashing him from the start i doubt she'll take up his offer tho since she views him as a good for nothing woman beater |
that Floyd merriweather knows how to throw a punch
