Fab better than Jada and Nas both tho

Also struggles on Lps
Yet does better than kiss

i am gonna agree with the momma's boy here. fab is the best self-made non mainstream artist in hip-hop history easy, peak nas has peak fab beat lyrically but career wise fab>nas. Music wise fab>nas. Lyrical consistency fab>nas. Social/emotional intelligence and realness fab>nas. Who wants to hear a nas freestyle? Exactly. Fab is the most relevant rapper out currently because he's diverse even tho weirdos like @oats think he's average. Freestyles, mixtapes, clubangers, features, stories, he can murk anything, sorta like a skinny new age biggie nobody else to really compare him to. Fab is more suave than biggie tho.

The Soul Tape series is one of the best mixtape series ever, and it's a shame he doesn't reach that level on his studio albums.

uh-oh 05-11-2015 07:05 PM

i like fab

i would much rather hear a nas "freestlye" than a fab one tho.

Hush 05-11-2015 07:07 PM

I respect Jada's skill, but his music is bland as fuck to me. Fab is a little better at making actual songs, but similar in that he's a hyper talented MC who doesn't make music becoming of his ability.

Nas is a legend.

Nas' career, as in his actual on-wax output, has not matched that status.

That's the fucking point. And no one has even tried to deny that. Even if you love Stillmatic or It Was Written or God's Son or all three, you can't argue that Nas is consistent or has made as much good music as he could have with better beats and a clearer vision for his abilities.

Y'all are acting like Fabolous and Jadakiss should be held to the same standards as Nas. I like them, too, but Nas at his best is on another level entirely. Nas at his best was the best, ever. But it lasted one album and was done by his 21st birthday.

Basically, I just want Nas to rap about the hood over DJ Premier piano loops forever and never do anything else.

There's so much inexplicable shit. Why did The Lost Tapes (recorded almost entirely in 1998 and 1999) have more good songs than I Am ... and Nastradamus (his albums from that era) combined? Why does he still keep trying to make radio-friendly songs with R&B hooks? How did he think following trash single "Got Ur Self A Gun" with "Made You Look" was good when they're practically the same?

If you put Nas' 20 best songs since Illmatic on an album, pretty much nobody could match it. But there's so much garbage in between. I love Mobb Deep, but there's no reason Prodigy should have had a so much more relevant career.

Nas is one of a kind. Dont ever doubt that, many have tried replicating.
