I stopped battling because the formula was simple. Anything that's voted on becomes a popularity contest. Style usually becoming the deciding factor depending on which site you're on. It's fun to do from time to time, but after a few months it just gets old. It does keep you sharp, though. Always writing and coming up with concepts.

I'd agree with @Muff. Good writers move on to something more challenging, because battling limits what you can do with a verse. People who know what they're doing learn what wins battles and what doesn't, and if you're worried about winning then you're trapped in that formula box.
