lmao fuck it, figured i'd post some fantasy matchups and say why i paired who with who, i've no idea who Bags is gonna pick to face who obviously but just for fun/activity:
diablo vs pizza hut revenge: i matched these two since Dagel's a faggot and both competitors seem to agree he is. a battle between the two Dagel hating behemoths bodes nicely for our second round. maybe. people may be bored of reading about it after my 96 line epic last round, but hey, its Dagel. we all know the story. another couple verses about him crying into his Veggie Volcano wont do any harm.
prediction: veggie pizza hut supreme
Witty vs Genocide: I know this one at first seems an odd choice, and maybe a stylistic mismatch of sorts, but I dont think this battle has happened on the topical side. both know what they're doing, both have a degree of technical ability, both have a way of connecting with the reader and drawing out feels. In that sense, approach wise, they're quite similar and it could make for a surprise battle of the round. Geno did very well last round despite the noshow, but i think his verse could have stood up against a dead man drop quite nicely. Witty had some ring rust and may not be able to compete at the level he once did, week in week out, due to time and baby restraints BUT he showed signs of that old fire in his belly still burning bright enough to show he's a force of nature. i liked that analogy. completely unplanned, but fitting. this is one of those sleeper battles that has huge potential to flop, but if it happens it could be my favourite of the round.
prediction: Geno in a surprise after Witty no shows lol
Pinot Grij vs ULLR: This one could be another surprise battle, two good polished writers who know what works and what needs to be done. Both tell storys, but have diff styles to their own approaches. ULLR is more serious, Pinot more comedic and often more battle-orientated. It would be interesting to see if either change their approaches to suit their opponents on this and capitalise by surprising the other. Its almost like a chess move, the one who makes the winning move takes all. that said, its why would either break from a tried and tested formula they know and love? especially in the middle of a tournament? the whole non-topic thing could perhaps suit them both, but i'm sure they would both rather have a designated topic to attack at. still, this all adds to the intrigue. another potentially great battle on paper, providing both show out for it.
prediction: Baron X doesnt colour in his verse this week
which would leave us with Inno vs MMLP... two newer-ish names to the topical world, Inno the more poetic minded and MMLP my partner in crime and a newb to online writing in general who's learned under the tutelage of president lars. MMLP has the more technical, mechanics side sussed somewhat but is that enough to overpower a less rigid, more poetic and authentic writer like Inno? again, this one could come down to personal preference for me. you have your writers that obsess over the multi strings and schemes then you have the guys that just straight up enjoy writing with descriptive imagery, emotions and turns of phrase. its a divisive one, but could make for a close battle in votes.
vote - Inno for LULZ
