It's kindve like when a little kid doesn't know when the game/jokes over.......and they just keep on with it to the point where the other person or adult has to be like.........alright....knock it the fuck off idiot we are done with that.....................but it just doesn't sink in to the kid

veritas 12-22-2015 10:45 PM

Huth does not matter nor will I ever give him permission to.

Anthony: the irony is strong. Your analogy is exactly what is going on here....just reversed. You thinkING this is about an old message board beef is the exact point of the issue. This is about me being the adult and trying to get you to leave that mode of thought. You are also an easy target bc you are a bully. We need to stop that.

Ghost1 12-23-2015 07:41 AM

Nah....No1 said anything about that but u. Still. Ur projecting. D9 something new.or Stfu cornball.

veritas 12-23-2015 12:29 PM

Wrong. I do not give your permission to take that tone with me. I have always been and will always be your disgruntled guardian angel. You know this. The one who needs to change is you.

I don't care about doing new. Just like you don't. Fair?

veritas 12-23-2015 12:32 PM

Jut apologize as we will be square, cool?

Diode 12-23-2015 12:59 PM

Read the first page of the thread. Assume the rest is normal Netcees stuff.

spoilers, i suppose

I liked it. Thought Kylo Ren was a good villain. The choice to subvert the expected and have him casually take off his helmet when confronted about it was good. Thought the Han death was well done if not telegraphed. The homages to A New Hope was a bit much but on balance this was an enjoyable film.

The moment when Rey out-forced Kylo for the lightsaber, with the Star Wars theme building into it, gave me some chills. Other than that nothing too crazy. Definitely an improvement from the prequels. Rian Johnson should do well with VIII. He's better than Abrams.

She probably is Luke's daughter. Get ready for that predictable twist. And that makes her entire plot line in this movie very contrived. You're telling me Luke Skywalker's daughter just happens to be an immensely Force-sensitive poor girl on the exact planet where BB-8 gets lost while holding a piece of a map to Luke Skywalker? You could argue the Force drew her to BB-8 since it works in mysterious ways, but that still seems like a pretty major contrivance. Other elements of her power do manifest themselves before she realizes she has the Force —for instance, she's a great fighter and pilot. I don't mind her having such a complete "awakening" and being able to use the Force so early on because we obviously are to interpret her as an enormously powerful future Jedi. But I do hope they avoid making her Rey Skywalker. We don't need that.

1. Finn's transformation.

God, this one is getting to me more and more. They brushed his turn from stormtrooper to resistance leader off as though it were nothing for him. If we are to believe that stormtroopers now are kidnapped at birth and trained for their whole lives to serve the First Order, why is Finn so charismatic? How would he have developed such an interesting personality? Furthermore, if stormtroopers are slaves and also the people Finn grew up with, why is he so OK with murdering them? In his very first battle, he kills stormtroopers with no hesitation. Wasn't murder the reason he was running?

With all of that said, it still was a very good movie. And there still is plenty of time —at least two more movies with this cast —to resolve three of those issues. I am looking forward to the next one.

With #2, it's already very contrived whether or not Rey is Luke's daughter, which I think is a red herring.

1. The old brah with the map to Luke is on Jakku
2. Rey's on Jakku (whether she's Luke's daughter or just a random Super Jedi Brah is basically the same for contrivance purposes)
3. Finn & Poe crash within walking distance to Rey's camp on Jakku after being shot out of space.
4. Finn randomly guesses a direction that leads him to Rey and BB-8.

I think the ship/mechanic aspect of her character can be attributed to her scavenging work. She's been doing this for 20~ years, liable to pick up some know how. Know how to the extent of shutting off the Millenium Falcon mid-flight with such precision as to aim a broken turret? Probably not. As for her force powers, it beggars belief. But if we assume that she's immensely gifted, coupled with the fact that she only uses the force after seeing Kylo Ren using it (on her no less) a couple times, it sort of works.

2. Cold blooded murder of townfolk is different than battling with a purpose, with your friends lives at stake and knowing the opposing side is "bad". Stormtroopers in the film showed some personality; the two that u-turned during Ren's temper tantrum. Also, if we accept the fact that he can have a personality, I don't find his arc that unbelievable. He wasn't put into a leadership position with the Resistance; he was a unique perspective and subject matter expert for the specific mission that was going down. His input would be valued if his allegiance wasn't suspect, which it wasn't since he was co-signed by Han, Chewie, and Rey.

The biggest fuck up, besides the stretch of belief I listed above, is R2D2 just randomly waking up. Unless I missed something about that.

Bash 12-29-2015 12:28 AM

Didnt like how they easily used the light saber with no practice. Other than that it was dope imo

J.J. Abrams explained that. He says R2D2 was in low-power mode and took a while to restart after BB-8 contacted it to tell it about the map.

The popular theory is that Rey was trained as Jedi then somehow had her mind wiped so she has no memory of it.

Geno 12-29-2015 03:20 PM

whos theory?

Useless 12-29-2015 04:24 PM

I don't remember who's

But that's why she had visions/flashbacks or whatev when she touched the light saber.

I don't really care. Not a big star wars fan tbh. I'm waiting on Superman vs batman, civil war, xmen apocolypse and deadpool.

this movie was good
zero weak points except some casting and

the first order's super weapon, and probably the first order overall being weak itself

Ghost1 04-10-2016 11:24 PM

This was dope lol

Mr. J 04-10-2016 11:43 PM

Obviously Leias daughter though...

MMLP 04-11-2016 10:08 AM

The movie is brilliant, a definite 9/10. They focused on the realism and characters and it worked a treat, set a good basis to build on now.

Certain made some good points, I will say though, I think kylo Ren isn't meant to be as threatening and menacing as vader, hes a lot more humanised, comes across younger, not fully matured and far less trained up which was deliberate. Snoke goes on to say 'ill complete his training'.

I dunno why he said 'thank you' after killing his dad???

They've built a good character and it will interesting to see how he develops and Rey now shes gonna harness the force n become a jedi.

tbf on the finn point, if somebody is shooting ya, ur not gonna stand by n do nothing, ur gonna have to shoot them back. So finn becoming an overnight 'killer' is more self defence rather than cold-blooded, viable!

I wish JJ Abram's was still involved, hopefully it doesn't suffer.

Ghost1 04-11-2016 10:16 AM

Before he kills his dad he says....I need u to help me

Prior to that he admittedly was having trouble staying committed to the dark side

He says Thank u...because killing his father brought him closer to the dark side

Least that's how I interpreted it

Also am hoping the chick is not related to any1 an is just a new jedi

MMLP 04-11-2016 10:39 AM

Yer seems right tbf, he was torn between both sides throughout the chat.

LOL @ the 'han solong' tag!!!!!!!!

Plot 04-11-2016 10:43 AM

To fully become Sith you must sacrifice someone you love.
its like dark side initiation or some shit...
Vader wasn't turned yet till he strangled Princess Armdamdmanda
And Its why the emperor was so keen on seeing Luke kill Vader.
