how many 8 magnitude quakes in a year anime?

anime_boners 09-17-2015 10:04 AM

~15

but if the next one is 5-6

thats literally like 2-3 a day.. from now til the end of the month is 2 weeks.. that's like 25-40 earthquakes you can pick and choose from to claim as "your" earthquake you predicted. and a 6 can still do legit damage if it hits the right place, all you have to do is wait for it to happen.

and if Chile to Cali is only a "little off"

then certainly so is 2.5-3 points on the richter

so essentially you have armor to say "oh, I was a lil off, but I still got it"

it's the same thing every asshole who makes these type of predictions does. speak in vague terms, and predict things that are likely to happen anyway.

where'd you pull that out your anime ass?

Chyeahhh!!! 09-17-2015 11:09 AM

8 plus magnitude quakes

Chyeahhh!!! 09-17-2015 11:21 AM

so in all honesty that fact that I predicted we have an 8 plus quake and we haven't had one since 2012 are damned good odds

Hush 09-17-2015 12:18 PM

Ur the only one impressed

average per year

anime_boners 09-17-2015 12:23 PM

I had "8" lumped in with 7.9 in my mind

on a scale of Chile to California though,

I'd say was still correct

Chyeahhh!!! 09-17-2015 12:24 PM

average 1 per year with us not having any since 2012

anime_boners 09-17-2015 12:32 PM

let me quickly explain how AVERAGE WORKS

in this situation they used 112 years of observations. if you note the website, it says it's based on observations since 1900 up to 2012.

that means in those 112 years. there has been 112, 8 magnitude quakes. maybe 112 of them happened in 1991, and the other 1 was in 1901. if you combine them all, then divide by the amount of time it AVERAGES 1 per year.

no obviously, that's not how this happened.. it was most likely 2-3 on year.. 1 another year.. none for a few years.. etc.

but it still averages out to 1 a year.

the fact that I have to explain to you basic things like how averages work, makes it really laughable that you want anyone to take your ability to make predictions based on data extremely laughable.

I'm saying we haven't had an 8 plus mag quake since 2012, yet I was able to predict one in the matter of 1 day...granted I was off where it took place, but the odds are still wild none the less...not luck though. Just a matter of math and time

Chyeahhh!!! 09-17-2015 12:44 PM

and that's only 112 years of recorded quakes, USGS has fudged numbers and has gotten caught fudging the numbers , they downgrade all the time. Spin it all you want, I still nailed it
