you're irish. your only needs in this world are to get fighting drunk, procreate, find a way to consume awful irish cuisine, and write long, unintelligible literary novels that make me suicidal.

Diode how do you feel about the upcoming season? Hayes has the only legit chance of cracking NYR for 40+ games out of the newbies, he's better than JT Miller. All the other dudes like nig nog duclair, they're 2-3 yrs out IMO. Hayes is a 1st rounder and has a man body. Haggerty sniped one at Traverse City vs Dallas or Carolina I think but he's undrafted out of college and when has one of those worked for NYR even when said college player WAS drafted? Amonte? Kreider maybe? Only hayes will make it gawd.

BTW for most men I would assume it's Jack Daniels all day, with some disgusting shit on hand for females like smirnoff and alize.

i pretty much agree with all of this. i think there's been some pretty good improvement on our lack of depth on defense. i'm waiting to see how the loss of boyle plays out - useless as a checker but had grit and grinded out some good stuff like prust. i hate losing guys with heart, at least we dumped the brad richards contract. rick nash better get his shit together or he'll get the redden treatment for sure.

kreids is coming along wonderfully, imo. that speed is so deadly.

worried about king henry starting to decline.

what do you think about mcdonagh as captain? i love the kid but he ain't exactly the most vocal motherfucker around.. top 3 2-way defender though for sure.

And I plan to fulfill all those needs.

Boyle was effective for sure, I liked prust better b/c of that godly viking beard and also b/c he didn't get knocked down as much as boyle. You can't really blame him he's like an nba player in the NHL but jesus did boyle fall a lot. Richards needed to go for cap space. Agree on that, he's still a good #2C at 20-30-50 production capability (which he will probably just about maintain playing on an offensively charged team like CHI even with a slight decline).

Krieder is legit, great weapon for years to come. His ceiling is about 30-30-60. Career year maybe can see something like 38-27-65 but I doubt it. Vision not good enough for more assists but if he learns to get more pucks through with his shot he'll get quite a few rebound assists. His shot and speed are great assets and I'm really high on him.

Henrik Is Godly, most consistent goalie of our era. Yeah he's early 30's but Brodeur is fat and he was good into his late 30's. With Hank's mental strength and athleticism I can see him staying consistent, with a slight decline maybe .010 save % for the next 5 yrs, with 1 or 2 outlier years where he wins or is a contender for the Vezina. Basically NYR's window to win the cup is that time period, or however long Hank stands up in real life.

McDonagh? He's a beast, I can see him winning a Norris in the future. I agree that he's not vocal but the NHL tends to like the Yzerman/Gretzky type of more a quietly assertive, prove it on the ice type of leadership. He will get the C. I'd personally give it to MSL because of his career success. Only certified future HOFer on the team currently in addition to Lundqvist. Look at the top 30 scoring last year in the NHL. All 1st rounders with the exception of MSL and Kuntiz. Kunitz is b/c of crosby. MSL created even without Stamkos and has an Art Ross. The guy is tiny and undrafted, it takes an uncommon mentality to get to the NHL and thrive with those factors, let alone at his age. Without the slump after the NYR trade, he's a PPG player last year, and there were less than 15 of those league wide. I understand he's out of the league soon but give him the C imo. Developing leadership skills, all that, that's bullshit tbh. MSL should be the leader.

Diode 09-19-2014 02:42 PM

i dunno man, i see your point, but we didn't give one to gretzky after mess left.. hard to justify MSL on loan for it.

NYCSPITZ 09-19-2014 02:50 PM

fuck the status quo that's why u gotta switch the shit UP dawg and try some new chemistry...

either way mac gets the C. and I see a 2nd round loss incoming this year TBH unless we trade for a legit #1C at the deadline we will not win the cup. Sather prob will tho like 60/40 chance he will

NYCSPITZ 09-19-2014 02:52 PM

if sather gets us a #1C at the deadline we have like a 30/70 shot at the cup IMO with last year's run and our current team

GOOD ODDS

at least he's been better lately

will still never forgive for gomez, redden, etc.

NYCSPITZ 09-19-2014 02:57 PM

lmao fucking gomez......redden has a couple good yrs in ottawa then pay him like he's some genius lawyer or NASA rocket scientist??? Jesus...co-sign how horrible that was.

We need someone like Thornton TBH. SJ stripped him of the C, think he'd consider coming to NYR at the deadline. I mean SJ just chokes every year in the playoffs after being regular season beasts. Thornton to NYR for.............

see thats the other problem. all of our good players are either too young, cheap, and valuable.. or too fucking expensive for anyone to deal with. we're out of grinders and upside guys. though if SOMEONE GOD WOULD PLEASE TAKE DAN GIRARDI OFF OUR HANDS I WOULDN'T MIND.

Its not a matter of growingvup. Its a preference. But you love condescension whenever possible so great post bud

Certain 09-19-2014 03:03 PM

I get drunk on gin drinks or shots of tequila or Canadian whisky.

I drink Scotch, bourbon and beer for the taste but sometimes drink enough of those to get drunk.

You know when you go to a barbecue and have a beer with your burger? That's drinking for taste. You don't have to be a sommelier to drink for taste.

He didn't say he can't enjoy things subtly...he said he doesn't do so with alcoholic beverages.

Something created with the purpose of making ppl drunk.

That's why there's alcohol in it.

Also, I should point out that there are alcoholics I would name in my list of the realest men I know...people who don't have a childish bone in their body (no tyson), it's silly to categorize people like that just because they don't do things how you do.

Anyway, bout to go drinking, have a good night bros.

I don't do that.

Literally don't drink unless I'm getting drunk, that's how it always has been.

Eating time is for eating...drinking time is for drinking.

Girardi is solid. Think he'll bounce back with a better playoffs. I'd give Staal+ for a Thornton Rental. Staal, Miller, 2nd for Thornton and Braun. I'm not high on Miller. If Thornton is solid throughout and Lundqvist is godly again, that's probably like 60% a cup right there. Obvi weakens our D which is our big strength aside from Hank but it's worth the cup shot IMO. Unless there's something more sustainable that'll allow us to compete for a longer window. Think We can move Thornton and find cap space to replace Stall after the playoffs tho

i agree that staal is dropping like a brick as far as skill goes and would gladly take that trade. doubt SJ would though. also it would tie up $$ we don't have.. it would set up an "all-in" season with MSL and Thornton expiring. if we had better depth from the rookies i could see it, but a pretty good risk if the pressure gets to everyone + thornton doesn't live up to expectations.. i mean, the last rental that did during the regular season was what.. drury? jagr?

PancakeBrah 09-19-2014 03:24 PM

Me and Witty are one ITT

Was going to reply to both diode and certain with the same responses.

Well done ol fox.
