Those rappers selling the same crap reinforces that this is what people in Hip Hop should like. The masses are sheep. It takes someone with a bit of charisma and some taste to push things in the right direction, but most people with talent and a brain are too busy making money hand over fist to give a shit about the state of Hip Hop's quality.

dmx was third tier? FOH

whaaaaaaa....X was the biggest thing popping at his height...2 platinum records in one year...spearheaded the ruff Ryders...and rapped with what most artists lack nowadays and that's passion...

dudes be forgetting....smh....

Rap sales declined by 44 percent, we at the tipping point. Yes all Genres are losing sales but Hip Hop is declining the fastest

lol @ DMX being good

lolololol @ your reasoning for that being that he was 'the biggest thing popping at his height'

Third tier. Average on his better tracks. Horrible on the majority of them.

My Hip Hop taste is better than yours.

Void 07-06-2013 03:23 PM

Sales. Pretty sure sales only represent what people are spending money on. Equity decides Hip Hop's mortality? You assholes.

Void 07-06-2013 03:25 PM

White people ruined Hip Hop. That might be true, but black people got in line behind the white people and ran it into the ground by following the money. I wouldn't begrudge them that, but lets place blame where it belongs if we're going to get all racist.

If it can't sell, it becomes irrelevant. Its simple as that and there is not enough cognitive dissonance to delay the fact. It will soon fade away and fade to gray just like Doo wop and Disco.

Void 07-06-2013 03:28 PM

I liked It's Dark and Hell is Hot, btw. I'm arguing tastes, I guess. DMX, in his brand of Hip Hop was one of the better ones at the time. I'll admit that. I just have higher standards.

Void 07-06-2013 03:31 PM

Pretty sure Hip Hop started without being relevant at all. Now the money it makes decides whether it's worthy as a music? Like I said earlier, I guess by dead, you meant how Hip Hop had become the most POPULAR music in America. That might be an accomplishment, but it by no means defines it. I should insult you.

Rawn M.D. 07-06-2013 03:39 PM

@Void im just curious as to what u consider 'good hiphop' to be?

also - its dark n hell is hot was x's best cd imo

It WAS the most popular genre in America back in 2006 but its 2013. Country and Classic Rock are the Top Genres.
