I think USA will do better in 4 years tbh. not going to go so far as to say that they'll contend, but they impressed this time around as a fairly young and inexperienced team.

Yeah probably 2022 also, they have a stupidly young team.

By 2018, Paul Pogba might be the best player in the world.

Or James Rodriguez.

So much new young talent in this world cup...Mario Goetze scored the winning goal of a world cup at 22 years of age.

Fml.

Certain 07-13-2014 06:23 PM

James Rodriguez is older than Neymar.

Witty 07-13-2014 10:11 PM

@Certain He's 23, at the next World Cup he'll be 27 which is when most players are at their prime.

oats 07-13-2014 10:18 PM

I was hoping Muller would get two golden boots in a row

That's true, but what I meant was that Neymar also could be the best. (My understanding is that he'll be fine from this injury.)

Or maybe Romelu Lukaku will stop being an idiot and become the most dominant goal-scorer in the world, which he definitely has the potential to be. He, Kevin De Bruyne and Eden Hazard all should be top 20 players internationally by the next World Cup. Hell, Thomas Muller will be 28 by then.

I have my reservations that a breakout star like James Rodriguez, who did have a fine club season but ultimately has never been viewed on the level of these guys, is going to become the best in the world. Most of the guys who get the best-in-the-world tag are known commodities in their teens.

or you can turn pro when you're twenty and lead the tally for world cup goals.

you never know.
