There are more mental illness' today then there has been throughout history.

Half of them are a load of shit.

"You suffer from separation anxiety, take these pills and we can talk about it". Reality = Dad left when you were 9, your dad happened to be a bad parent like many others out there. Mum still provided and had a good upbringing. Get over it fagg0t.

Rawn M.D. 06-18-2013 11:13 PM

seperation anxiety takin to its extreme can be a form a PTSD...so thats a bad example

add adhd all attention things r bs...75% of depression n bi-polar i feel are bs

i feel they're are legit things...but simply overly diagnosed to benefit the psych n big pharma

veritas 06-18-2013 11:17 PM

Tell me one behavior that a crazy person does that is un natural?

Masaii 06-18-2013 11:18 PM

yeah I chose a bad example. But you still get my point.

Okay what about Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME) aka chronic fatigue? I seriously laugh at people who tell me they have that. Worst cop out of all time.

Talks in tongues. Suppose it is a natural function but it isnt 'normal' behaviour. But then again whos to say what is normal? Oh shit Veritas opened pandoras box here.

Rawn M.D. 06-18-2013 11:20 PM

eat their own feces...hear voices..self mutilate...i mean these aren't 'unnatural' per say, but def illogical and self harming

Meth 06-18-2013 11:21 PM

I think depression and like masaii said chronic fatigue is a load

veritas 06-18-2013 11:22 PM

Monkeys throw their feces dogs eat their feces...eagles smash their beaks against rocks till it is a stump....

Gtg. Will revisit this tom to see if yall catch what I am getting at...

I may he on tue verge of something big....

Rawn M.D. 06-18-2013 11:34 PM

yea but those arent normal behaviors...a dog that eats shit...is said to be 'lame' or 'dumb'
hawks r the only ones and thats for utility of beak..and i dont think their pain sensation is the same as say biting ones lip.

Rawn M.D. 06-18-2013 11:36 PM

but then u have spatial disorders like dislexia or total behavioral disorders like cortard syndrome...that i dont know of any animal exhibiting besides human..but it can be said this can be blamed on the complexity of our brains...and the larger % of something going wrong.

In a world full of crazy people a sane person seems insane.
Sane people pretending to be insane or intellectual are some of the craziest, not because they don't have a conscience but because they ignore it intentionally

Rawn M.D. 06-19-2013 12:03 AM

@YDK its called the eccentricities of genius...thas what ur eluding too..also ppl with assbergers are xtremely intelligent, typically, (at least in one area) bc of the way they process info..cuz asberger is high functioning autism.

YDK 06-19-2013 12:08 AM

Yeah you know wat I'm talking bout rawn lol

Rawn M.D. 06-19-2013 12:10 AM

but ur first comment reminded me a whole lot of the premise behind 'Catch 22' lolz @YDK

YDK 06-19-2013 12:16 AM

Lol never heard of it. But tbh I can't call bullshit on psychological problems, I've got a few and spent a few weeks in a mental hospital so I know shit is real

Rawn M.D. 06-19-2013 12:26 AM

it a book wrote during ww2...about that exact paradox

an insane person thinking they're sane proves their own insanity and a sane person thinking that they're insane proves that they are sane...
(thats paraphrased and simplified btw)

its an awesome book wrote by Joseph Heller...kind of a 'modern'ish classic'

hence 'catch 22'
@Chyeahhh!!! @VERITAS

YDK 06-19-2013 12:28 AM

Hmm that sounds cool ima have to try an find that

zygote 06-19-2013 02:13 AM

Validity of mental illness diagnosis can be difficult to establish. Rosenhan experiment is good - (a summary) http://psychrights.org/articles/rosenham.htm. Also, author called Szasz wrote on it - ("the myth of mental illness" - "the manufacture of madness" - "essays on the psychiatric dehumanization of man") unfortunately cannot find free full-text online for them. Older critiques of DSM and ICD often give arguments for mental illness as a construct (just search variations of 'DSM/ICD diagnostic validity/reliability').

mental illness as mythology AWESOME BREAKTHROUGH V! you've come a long way! now if we can cure you of this religious affliciton we'll be making some real headway.

btw goldfish in blender is FUCKING AWESOME! I wonder how often they had ta change the water?

good art must be more than some pretty shit, we already have sexy women and sunrises... Good art should make you question yourself and think about the world, imo

love the goldfish exhibit and the bodies alive thing, wanted to show my children, we americans as a whole, fear our mortality too much, western medicines monetization methods and cosmetic companies have taught us to be that way
the shit exhibit is just rude. unless it was treated in some way that it was no longer just raw shit smeared on canvas. in that case I consider it a brilliant statement.
