Just for the sake of discussion, what do you think we're the strengths/weaknesses of your verse and the strengths/weaknesses of mine? Like, what is your rationale for believing you won?

Certain 04-08-2014 06:26 PM

I liked Vividlyvague's verse a lot, for what it's worth.

I just flat out won hands down. I have no clue why Certain ended the championship 3-1, then the very next week extended it 24 hours when the championship had a suffice 3-1 decision.

Oats, I do think you're a very good writer. The verse you wrote for the championship, in which you trimmed about 20 lines, was not what I consider championship calibre.

One of the major differences between us is, you out line your points like a thesis paper where as I naturally know where it to take it off of instinct. Your shit barely even rhymed, couple lines here and there, the rest was more Essay like than Rap.

If the majority voted, I would've came back like Jordan wearing the 4-5

PancakeBrah 04-08-2014 07:15 PM

You wrote about a basketball game. And made shit up. And used the "word" 're' to rhyme.

There's no travesty here.

I, for one, welcome our new oats overlord.

Frank 04-08-2014 07:23 PM

'RE' is slang your not up on, out there, in the middle of nowhere.

Why am I addressing a coward? SMH

PancakeBrah 04-08-2014 07:27 PM

michael jordan played with hustle for re'
passed the ball. nike shoes scuffin' the re'
shoots. goes through the net, nothing but re'
on the other end, jumps up for the re'
fastbreak. crossover. shuffles his re'
dad coughs up a lung like a re'
"one more second, trophy's just in our re'!"
nails the shot. one hand up like a re'

Fig 04-08-2014 07:27 PM

Hey Frank remember when you pm'd me after I voted against you in fear of losing a poem battle

yeah that wasn't cowardly or anything

Frank 04-08-2014 07:28 PM

Fig is a faggot. I had to vent bro.

oats 04-08-2014 07:32 PM

Frank, that is in no way how I write lol. I have an idea and I follow it fairly organically, usually with an ending in mind. The rhyming bit, idk what you're talking about tbh. If anything vivid out rhymed us both, but to say my shit didn't rhyme is just factually inaccurate.

I also think you're a good writer, but here's why I thought I won. My idea was much more complex, and an overall more original angle of the topic. I also think you had more forced rhymes than I had, though neither of us were stellar or awful in that department. You painted a great scene, and nailed the baited breath and technicolor atmosphere of the time, whereas I had a more thought-provoking, metaphorical take. Since neither of us really dominated the actual writing, it came down to who had the better concept. I believe yours was flat where mine had depth.

Like I said, I respect you as a writer, and I hope we can meet one on one so we can get more votes (three ways always get a lack of votes), but I can't see any way you won other than it was an easier read. But as was said before, almost always the majority of us believe we won even when the votes don't reflect it. End of the day, insisting you won when you didn't just isn't a good look.

sup with biddies and The Weeknd? whatever happened to nelly and r kelly

Frank 04-08-2014 07:47 PM

It is what it is. I brought the topic into its rightful form. Under the big lights, at the height of it all, I came through in the clutch with the game on the line and ultimately got hit with the unsportsmanlike foul by a dirty ref.

Controversial victory bro.

Basketball really needs reviewable calls. Something to think about for next season. Nahmean.

PancakeBrah 04-08-2014 09:53 PM

For no particular reason I've always disliked Paul Pierce.
