Theres so much evidence that time in the market > timing the market ... the large majority of the time anyway..

Crypto wise I own BTC, ETH, XRP, ADA and REN... but prob only about 5% of my portfolio is crypto

My primary focus first was maxing out my TFSA and RRSP (your 401ks and Roth IRAs) so that I have tax free growth forever . Those are the only accounts we really have for tax free growth in Canada

Both are a 90/10 equity vs bonds/gold/fixed income split as I'm still in my 30s and we can't buy Target Date Index Funds here... I'll reduce that ratio as I get older .... VTI being the primary ETF as it's more weighted to the US market , but some international exposure as well

Now that those are maxed I have a few non registered brokerage accounts that are a mixture of probably 30 to 35 ETFs and individual stocks... and a 4% Canadian Dividend ETF with a monthly dividend distribution I put money into everymonth ... next goal is to get that ETF to 6 figures and reinvest the dividends to accelerate the compounding

Ohh and emergency fund.... about 4 to 6 months of bills, mortgage etc etc just in case ... all cash obv

Blue Bayou 10-13-2021 06:51 PM

Surely the tax man takes a nice chunk of capital gains on crypto when they're sold?

I've never personally sold any of my crypto yet.... are your crypro gains taxed at your current income tax level in the US (assuming you have a job and declare earned income on your taxes)?

and about 300k in regular cash waiting for the recession so i can buy up cheap equities. hope i'm betting right on deflation and not runaway inflation.

Last I checked they recently passed a law or they were working to pass a law stating that you can be taxed on your crypto gains even if you haven’t sold, which is bullshit.

ADA LOL

Cult of Hoskinsin is everywhere. Enjoy those 2x gains over the next 6 years. “In it for the tech” face ass mfs. Unless you bought it a year ago.

I’m sniping low cap ETH chain plays for the rest of Q4.

I’m looking at some BSC / FTM chain tokens too. Anywhere from 500k-5m market cap.

Might get rugged on a few but that’s the game

Ghost1 10-14-2021 10:14 AM

So basically since eth is gonna blow an shift to proof of stake u looking for alt coins that build on its blockchain that are low cap so u can get in early before they explode?

Legit just still trynna learn crypto...

I bought an eth coin for like 2500 tho a while back an I'm not too mad at it

dead man 10-14-2021 10:43 AM

Who knows when ETH will transition from POW, the timeline has been pushed back for years as far as I know, and I personally don’t care, gas fees are just a cost of doing business. People don’t like it but it’s a stress tested chain (UNLIKE ADA which is essentially theory math and vaporware) so it’s the best we have.

I look for new projects with reputable devs and solid teams that have good ideas. Find them before CMC listings or pre-launch of whatever their product is. Some are shitcoins that feed off hype like anything in the INU dog coin category. KUMA / LEASH / BABYDOGE whatever. Or something with utility like DBUY that will drop a fantastic audio NFT platform later this year. Or GLCH or HEX or PulseChain which will be dropping in December. Some I hold some I trade. Gaming tokens are huge right now. So are ETH and SOL chain NFTs but minting is a gas war so you pay to play no matter what. Pixel art NFT market is already over-saturated anyway.

I personally think you can still make major gains in crypto the next few months. January/feb is probably when BTC blows off top and dumps back to 30-40k from 80-99k or whatever it reaches. Get in now while money is flowing

BTC -> ETH -> mid-cap -> small-cap

This is the flow of money. When Bitcoin cools off after a rally watch how people move their $$$ around.

Even in a bear market there is always money in the banana stand

Stay safe out there
