the big picture was a posthumus compilation album with old verses remastered with new production and instrumentals.

Nothing groundbreaking, but it was the first time I really heard the rhythm section matter in a hip hop setting. A lot of those tracks are good as instrumentals

Phrenology is a classic.

Big Boi and Dre Present...OutKast for me. Bought after hearing Ms. Jackson. Basically a greatest hits album with a few new songs. Still my favorite rap artist/group to this day.

Liquid Swords up there too.

Bought illmatic after awhile and thought it was shit. Only listened to NY State of Mind. Can confirm it's good now tho.

honestly probably stillmatic and MMLP, where i started listening to hip hop albums consciously on repeat.

it's a hard question, i was exposed to hip hop from before i was knee high thanks to an eldest brother (huge tupac fanboy, but heard countless cats through him) constantly bumping it. i didn't really get into it so much as it just being a logical progression for me. he had good taste, though.
