Pharoah
Big L
G rap

This is like the dumbest conversation ever.

Top 5 all comes down to preference.

If you did a Top 100 list, all those 100 rappers with technically have 'pure rapping talent' as far as being able to structure a verse / flow.

My name Grafh ya'll

Inno 03-27-2016 05:29 PM

Id drop Em, Pac, & Luda for KRS, Ras Kass & Killer Mike

Not having Em near the top of that list is insane.

As far as opinion, whether or not you like the content is opinion, but technical skill is measurable.

I love KRS, but did he have the technical ability of an Eminem, a Pun, a Big L...absolutely not.

It's only one aspect of what makes an artist great, I respect that, I'm not saying it's the most important either, that is opinion too. It's also only one aspect of lyricism...I think people mistake lyricism for technical skill, for me great lyricism also includes great story telling, writing in a way that connects emotionally with the listener...which is why I consider Pac a top lyricist, but not a top technical rapper. Which is also why I didn't say best lyricist in this title as that would not be my opinion.

Em, Pun, L

Always been my personal top 3

King 03-28-2016 03:09 PM

In no order my top 5 would be

Black Thought
Pharoahe Monch
Eminem
Gift of Gab
Rakim

I was never a huge fan of Big L. He was ahead of his time style wise, I agree, but idk about cracking into elite status. I just don't see it.

Witty 03-28-2016 03:36 PM

Black thought is so underrated.

Mr. J 03-28-2016 03:38 PM

^^^^lol

never heard that before

Witty 03-28-2016 03:41 PM

When it comes to Em, I think technically he is better than he has ever been...his wordplay in particular is incredibly subtle. I think he lacks in other aspects he didn't used to lack in...maybe that's age, maybe that's not being in the inner circle of hip hop anymore, idk..i still admire him as a writer. He's incredible.

Witty 03-28-2016 03:43 PM

He can't make a banger to save his life tho.
