StarFaggot 01-16-2014 02:52 PM

I'm going to present this list of greats to RB and see if they have any greats to add.

Certain 01-16-2014 02:54 PM

When did RapBattles become a place worth respecting?

StarFaggot 01-16-2014 02:55 PM

They've been respected. Why, do you suppose another place?

Certain 01-16-2014 02:56 PM

No, it's just weird to me. There must have been some sort of rebuilding effort there while I was away because by 2003, RapBattles was pretty much all newbies.

StarFaggot 01-16-2014 02:57 PM

Hmm, you're right. They don't have any all time greats there save for the exception of God of War

Witty 01-16-2014 03:16 PM

Some of the greatest writers in the history of the internet have posted on RB.

Quite a few of them also post here.

It's been a few years since RB was worth mentioning but it was really dope for a while.

This is the guy who inspired Witty to write the way he writes.

Back when the now wise and knowledgeable old fox was just an innocent little baby fox.

Speaking in third person makes Witty cool.

Witty wishes it was still 2005 :(

I've never left, that place was my homesite and I still mod there now, tbh.

Certain 01-16-2014 03:58 PM

I shouldn't say left. I mean, you went elsewhere.

Lars 01-16-2014 04:05 PM

It was a weird one, I was in my early teens and all the sort of 'older' heads would tell me I wouldn't be respected outside of my home site until I joined the RSTL where all the 'known' writers were and proved myself.

I'd always found myself lost in the traffic at RM, threads would disappear to the second or third page within half an hour or so, so it took me a while to figure it out and then from there I found out there were a heap of smaller sites like RTM or RnR that were mostly vets or people I respected. The rest is history.

Most of the RhymeNReason guys (with a few exceptions including myself) were from RapBattles. I actually remember when they pulled listen away from RB for a battle with Phear, which then lead to listen becoming a fully ingrained member of RnR. Abolish was one of RB's first legends, and even Shadow posted at RnR quite a bit.

I know, dude, I know... lol

Abolish and Salvation/The Illest helped me a lot when I was younger, I still remember Shadow's piece at RnR called Bastard Child. His style was more longbar than we would be used to here, but he was nice with it.

PancakeBrah 01-16-2014 04:16 PM

I used to battle at GameFAQS.

Deal with that. Process it.

Certain 01-16-2014 04:17 PM

JUST REMINISCING DON'T PATRONIZE ME.

I do wonder where most of those guys went, though. You ever talk to them? I wonder if Sincere and c0MA ever did anything, too.

NYCSPITZ 01-16-2014 04:19 PM
