SS was my home,first league i ever joined. Joined in 2005 and made it to the playoff quarter finals my first season lol There were people like Bounce, Brix, Evolve, Engivale, Black, Brandon, Cry, Oats, Chris Black (who yes was an asshole and someone I disagree with on most things, but was also fucking dope) etc. etc.

It was the greatest topical league ever.

As for topics - just looked through every contest page to see if contests are open and it was surprising too see all the images. Ambiguous pictures/phrases are good but it would also be good to see more well-defined topics or images. For example, how about a week of time periods, or famous characters, or occupations, or controversial topics? Perhaps having ambiguous topics actually decreases the number of things you can write about. Whereas a more concrete topic would stretch peoples comfort zones and give a greater margin in choosing what to write about.

I think it would be cool too to just give free reign every week on topics...biting/recycling/ghosting etc could be easily checked, so that would not be a problem. 10 years ago this would be blasphemy...but today ? it would probably make the league better. if not, whatever never lever better sever together.

Welll @Split. In that case.. we switch off and on. One week is pics or phrases aimed at a universal subject. The next = aimed @ nothing. I think to pick a subject.. and then find pics that relate to the same subject for every battle not only challenges the writer.. but us to as mods. It also helps individual battles to not feel so individual if everyone is aiming towards the same goal.. ultimately. It may just up post views/votes. Worth a try. I think next week is as good a week as any to test this theory

@Split perhaps, but then everyone could play to their strengths each week, filling out the battles a bit more. I guess the cool thing about topic restrictions is that it can also play against your strengths...could work out in some matches. I'm fine how things are right now though.
