Figured I'd put my 2 cents in on the caring about winning... I personally don't care if I win or lose as long as my verse is relatively understood by the majority, which is what I bitchflipped about with that cake battle... But, cmon guys, you do realize the trophy you get for winning is made of pixels and nobody in your real life is going to know whether you won or lost unless you tell them. Do it for the experience of writing, that's the real gift to be taken from here

Who am I facing this week?

I write to write usually. I've progressed a shit load as a writer considering this is only my second topical league ever. But I get pissed when I lose. Then I smoke a blunt and say to myself how voters suck and then I fall asleep and forgot about it. That's called Zen my friends.

There's a whole buddy buddy group here apart from the usual top tier writers normally representative of a nc writing league. I don't enjoy it.

Well if its by overall record without regard to winning percentage than newer entrants have no real shot. A mix of both is necessary

Certain has a far superior record to anyone else. he lost the title match in week 5. he just had a big win over vulgar and seems like he deserves a contender shot to me. thanks for asking

that's not true at all. 12 people will make the playoffs. with three weeks left even someone 0-0 right now has an outside chance.


it is designed this way to increase participation. do you really want someone signing in Week 8 to make the playoffs? I don't . that's gay.

As long as playoffs are open sign-ups if some of those with the top 12 records do not sign in (rather than hunting them down and pressuring them into signing into an eventual no-show) everything seems to be in a decent state

just so you know, title holder does not get an accomp. only the champ at the end of the playoff does. top four ranked get first round byes. get in the top four and it doesn't really matter. the only advantage is picking out your topic every week from three selections given by me or certain. that continues into the playoffs for the top four but only if they are facing someone not in the top four. still friends?

and yes the playoffs will have sign ups. top twelve that sign up get in. I have a very intricate rating system that I mentioned in the last mag. it goes by most wins, tie breaker is head to head match ups and second tie breaker is strength of schedule. which is adding up all the wins of someones opponents.

Yeah I think the accomp is a nice little motivational tool. Champed is obv much more 'prestigious' although saying that about a text site accolade makes me feel a bit lame. BUT FUCK IT IT IS

when making match ups during the regular season I try to match up people with the same records as much as possible. and I do take some liberty with the match ups for the good of the league.

I was speaking about the rankings of who gets in the playoffs and their seeding in the playoffs. that's when the ranking system really comes into play. right now just keep winning.

well i will speak to Namix about the accomp thing. i was under the impression that accomp was not for things like this. OM HOF and just in general HOF i usually see as a accomp.

look at Franks sign in. under his name it says Champed AOWL. he clearly did not. dead man did. but for some reason in the past they put it under Champed. it doesn't indicate any difference from him holding the title for a few weeks or dead man winning the whole thing. that is cheap.


only one person gets Champed AOWL season 2 under their name. and that's the overall winner.

i think the problem is we did not have an admin who cared about topical stuff whatsoever, and we had to tag and beg and plead to get anything done on the administrative front... it was done haphazardly to say the least

At least that's the method of giving titles they use to distinguish seasons vs. weeks in the NBL.

Anyways. champing the league for a single week takes a large amount of work I wouldn't call cheap by any means... And going by how playoffs show that top 4 people get preference, it kinda shows how really only a very small portion of the writing population are expected to get recognition for the large amount of work they put in

If we want to give out accomps I can do that. I understand where mike is coming from but past topical leagues have done the champed/accomp thing as does the NBL. Up to mike.
