Title Match: Mr. J (4-1) vs. Vividlyvague (4-1)
Mr. J. He impressed me last week, actually. Contendership: YDK (3-2) vs. Frank (3-2) If both show, Frankie will win. YDK is surprising, though. Vulgar (3-0) vs. Certain (4-1) o0o0o0o sexual. Certain is a clever writer, I would have voted for him last week if his battle wasn't closed. But Vulgar is HOF calibur. Should be great. PancakeBrah (2-1) vs. NYCSPITZ (2-2) BOTW. The topical matchup that has defined this era of topicality. Adonis (2-2) vs. Zenland (2-3) Zenland winnar. Mike Wrecka (2-3) vs. breathless (2-2) MW King Ra. (1-3) vs. Split Eight (1-1) Split Eight. LOL IS SPLIT GONNA TRY AND CHAMP THIS SUMBITCH!? TYSON (1-0) vs. symetrik (1-1) Symetrik is going to put it in Tyson's butt. Genocide (0-1) vs. Lexicon (1-2) BOTW #2. Geno's pissed. Lexicon writes 1/2 verse. Geno, but it's a toss up. Cope (0-0) vs. Witty (0-1) Fox. ZYG (0-0) vs. Diode (0-0) Zygote. |

@Split Eight. trying to shake off this writer's block. Btw, not sure if ur still in Lowell but a friend of mine is doing an open mic Halloween event at the Egg Roll Cafe. Come through, bro.
|
@Certain I downloaded Reflektor. First impression is that the second disk is markedly better than the first, although Arcade Fire albums usually take a few listen throughs to really enjoy and grasp.

also... for writer's block just try freewriting some shit, like just go for rhymes and schemes at first, then pull some concepts together. just my 2c haha |
Check in, complete.
Verse written, and posted COMPLETE. See y'all this weekend. |
O nvm its on North near Suppas? that's ill

Geno da gawd. |
@PancakeBrah, that's not even arguable. From "Joan of Arc" through the end, it's great aside from "Porno."
|
I feel better about my opinion now.
First disk, for the most part, didn't have the sound that I expect from Arcade Fire. That resonance that makes them so good. |
I've listened through four times, including one lights-out, eyes-closed session. I feel pretty good about where I stand on it right now. Obviously, time will tell. I'm relistening to Neon Bible right now. It's more consistent and probably better. I like guitars sometimes.
|
lol. Someone recommend a rapper at a similar point in their career to Chance the Rapper, Vic Mensa or Joey Bada$$

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p8aH3YJGhwU Top 5 AF song. It's a great album, almost through and through. Funeral is unfuckwitable. Picking the best after that is simply your favorite definition of great. I prefer the 'Arcade Fire' version of No Cars Go, though. |
"No Cars Go" is great, but I actually think The Suburbs channels that sound more. It's the more consistent album. It might even be more consistent than Funeral.
|
You guys go real in depth on Arcade Fire.
|
imagine how dumb I feel having never even heard of them haha
|
I heard 'Arcade Fire's version of it first and it was the song that made me actually think the hype was legitimate. It took me awhile to like Arcade Fire, and now that I do they're probably my favorite modern band, unless Vampire Weekend makes another album like 'Vampires'.
Saying Suburbs is more consistent than Funeral is like saying you like Pearl Jam more than Nirvana. Yeah, maybe. But....c'mon. |
Just listened to neon bible, or perhaps only part of it
Eyo, @PancakeBrah. This may sound nutso.. but I swear the most peaceful feeling of tranquility came over me as I listened, and visualized the neon and city lights flying past me at phenol velocity. Insane, right? Yo.. I'm gonna need that playlist. Sry it didn't work last time. But wow at these songs you produce. Its a whole nother world of listening, and emotion. Fuck me to death |
The Postal Service tho

I downloaded that album, and don't skip songs often when they come up on shuffle.
|
"No Cars Go" was my first Arcade Fire taste because I only listened to rap and The Beatles in high school. But after liking that and Neon Bible, I bought Funeral and was blown away.
Aside: As good as Win's performance is on Reflektor, I miss Regine. "In the Backseat" is a top 10 Arcade Fire track. |
So its funeral, by arcade fire?
Is that an album title? And if so.. do cd stores have it.. or is this one of those order online only type of albums |

My top ten of Arcade Fire songs consists of like 5 or 6 'Funeral' songs, and they switch depending on my mood, age, and listening history. But 'In the Backseat' is so obvious with it's message but so fucking earnest without equivocation. A song about life, a perfect metaphor. Tired, but revived due to the heartfelt. Plus, that fucking aural bliss of the oo-OOOO. You know what I mean. That release. @Genocide yeah, the album title is Funeral. Give it a few listens. It's arguably a Top 10 All Time album. Just give it some time. Any normal CD store will have it, it's not hard to find. |

Dope. I'm on it, when I cop mmlp2 on Tuesday I will be buying funeral, also.
Until then.. gonna peep youtube. Later folks. And @symetrik,your too quick for me, guy. Take it easy. |
Arcade Fire.... I usually listen to hip hop and r&b but all this talk has convinced me to give it a go.
